The series didnt really get homoerotic until the second game. The first game is more in lines with Wings of Wor for the genesis with very similiar mechanical/human looking bosses.

Heh heh...when you think about it, considering how many shmup series and titles have come and gone over the years, the fact that this one is still out there is pretty amazing...and possibly frightening. As was said, though, this one is supposedly the least...distinctive of the bunch, so I can only wonder what sort of reception it'll get.
Maybe I only played the "bad" ones, but weren't the Cho Aniki games mostly crap? It's just the theme that seems to carry it, or have I missed the key title in the franchise?

You're not missing anything. They're just to either show other people or play by yourself and say "What the fuck kind of bizarre shit am I playing?!"
So this game made its unofficial debut at the Osaka Games festa. I meant to get a video of the whole stage but just got the boss, sorry. The stage was full of weird enemies including a train with a face on it, spaceships and dudes with speedos on. Enemies killed drop little cho anikis which act as multipliers.
Early build, so not beautiful but yeah it's cho aniki.
The screenshots on the jp. page look like as if it was a remake of Ai Chô Aniki for PC-Engine (similar to stage 1 PCE: the planet+space surrounding). I loved that game for its soundtrack, hope they don't mess up the audio part.
yay, more cho aniki! not that i will necessarily buy it but i love the art that masaya used for these games. the cover for ai cho aniki would be my sig if you could have high-resolution foot long sigs on these forums... maybe for my neo-geo account that i never use...
Cho Aniki was created to show it off for friends. The games are absolute garbage, but the "what the hell am I playing?" factor keeps you going for a while.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I agree, in fact the only time I play Ai Cho Aniki is to show it to my friends & have a good laugh.
