Haha, you beat him then?
Tell me - did you kill him before he self-destructed in his first form?

Haha, you beat him then?
hehe yeah finally i did it.
with that i reached my first two goal's.
get to gluon and beat him so i can make a good run at the psyvariar tournament. (info's for the tournament are at the shmupmeets board)
Tell me - did you kill him before he self-destructed in his first form?
no i killed the first form after the 4th attack with the blue ring's. (killed him with a level up)
then i fly around the boss to avoid the first pattern and when he beginn to shoot the pink pattern i start shooting, bomb and fly in to the boss with a level up.
so pretty lame gluon score only 6660 buzz.
but hey i beat him. :)

sorry for my bad english.

I'm liking the steady improvement CRI. What kind of score are you finishing stage 5 on? I had 44 million on my best run, so I figure there's 22mil + on that last fight...
Oh, are you playing on 3 life mode or 5 life mode? I've been playing on 3 life mode...

I got my first play on the PS2 version on friday night. That mission mode is fun, I got to mission 17, and had about 10 tries on it before having to stop.

I have to say, the addition of a roll button *does* make the game much, much easier, but getting used to a PS2 analogue stick is something I need to work on. :)

I noticed people are posting screenshots of highscores. I'm working on recording an AVI of stage 6 from my 66 million run, I'll probably post it in a day or two.

i got sometihng like 39 mil after stage 5.
but i only milk the 3rd boss and the first form of the 4th.
i play on 3 life mode. (default)
i have the dc version so i play without roll button.

maybe i come back for this game when i got my dc jamma adapter.
with the dc arcade stick milking gluon is pain.

i'm looking forward to your video! :)

Just got this game on the PS2, having a lot of fun with it. I'll post some scores once I make something decent... I guess this has been done to death, but that roll button REALLY changes the game. Maybe its just me not knowing the game so well, but it seems to make so much easier to buzz like crazy. I'm playing wiith it off now, and its making a huge difference...

No updates yet?

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have a video from my mobile phone, but when I try to convert it from 3gp format to avi, it cuts off the second half of the vid.

Anyway, in case anyone here is interested in playing 3gp files, the movie is hosted here:

Have just bought a joystick and played this game the way its meant to be played! Its a humble start, but this lets me enter the hi-score table, at least...

PS2 version

Shooting Type

11,907,900 - Lv. 267 - Area-4

Buzz Type

5,118,600 - Lv. 57 - Area-2

Obviously I barely know how to use Buzz Type :P

What tends to be killing you? Have you watched many replays?

I think its probably a lack of practice with it then anything else. I've done thirteen of the missions and played a bit with it, but I really am still not comfortable with how it levels up. It seems to me a lot more mastery and planning is required when playing with it, for with the Shooting Type its very easy to 'plan' when you want to level up, since you're in very direct control (I.e. just shooting enough so you're just about to level up, or choosing to hold off.) That sort of luxury isn't there with the Buzz type, I don't think.

I've seen very few replays, but I never really paid much attention since they all used Buzz Type

I've only recently realised some of my scores on various shmups were just decent enough for some of the Hi Score threads, so here's my Psyvariar 2 submission.

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh55 ... C00013.jpg

I got this score late last year, at the time I'd just realised there was another OTA score tag being used elsewhere. Changed to OT2. That lasted about three days. In those three days I got this score. If that exempts me because I do post scores as OTA thats cool. I'll just have to chase this score. Up to bloodflowers...

EDIT: Many edits in fact. Still confused by putting a link in!

Actually I also have an update from the same time period:

Carmen - 12 752 800 - 249 -Area-4

I *think* I got one a bit higher then this but haven't wrote it down, and don't have my Psy2 here to check it out. I was looking forward to playing this game this season, but alas, I can't TATE my TV here :(

Now once we get this thread updated...

Looks like just ours... that and some of the ordering is off. I PM'd bloodflowers though so hopefully it'll be up-to-date (even if up-to-date translates to adding scores to the very bottom of the list :P )

If bloodflowers were too busy I'd happily take over as I'd love to run another table.

Just noticed that your score bumps my first submission off the board before I get on it! Nevermind - back to the old DC (though I'm just getting into Trizeal now!).

Got it this morning for DC, getting better by the minute... Even though my score doesn't make it to the top 10, here it goes:

KindGrind 9,414,200 level 225 STG stage 4

That would be nice: I plan on playing this (and Exelica) on my DC for a couple of weeks, since I'm done playing Border Down. Spadgy, we'll meet again here! :)

Alright - I haven't touched Psy 2 for a while, but if you're getting into now I'll put some time into it too. Always nice to be playing a game while others are active on the score table.

Have you seen Saur's amazing Psyvariar 2 superplays? Incredible demonstration of how to play the game really well, and a great FAQ if you click the 'more info' link.

I'll PM Bloodflowers now, and if I dion't hear back soonish I'll set up a tentative new thread.

I had the PS2 version and watched the superplay. Honestly, I thought I had the "pressure" of playing Buzz type, but upon visiting the forums here I realized only few people can do well using it. I think shooting is a lot easier, but I may be wrong. I had issues with the PS2 version (I found little to no reason why NOT buzzing all the time) and found the game wasinfinitely easier with that button. I got the DC version because it's cleaner on my TV and much more reliable than the dodgy PS2 setup I have at the moment, which refuses to read blue CDs half the time.

Indeed fun to play games you know for a fact others are playing, so I'll be very glad to put some time in Psy2 in the weeks to come (I still have 2 weeks off work so..) :)
