Well, they could just use the left stick for movement and the right for shot direction/firing like Robotron. If they do what you suggest, they'd have to stick fire on one of the shoulder buttons, cos shooting with X would be damn near impossible if you had both hands on the analog sticks.
I like this idea- Robotron style with the shoulder button to shoot.

Holding R3 -pushing in the Right stick- could work as well. This is a tad similar to the arcade's way of doing it (pushing down the knob to fire).

If you use X to shoot, you'd likely have to use the Lx/Rx buttons to aim- which could probably put a damper on fast turning.

Even that sounds kinda Ghey...it would be better to simply have the game fire by itself. So, therefore all you would do is controll the character and the direction of fire.

Of course the really important this is if it will offer tate like Generations does.
Black Tiger is the best game that never, ever got a decent port. It's the one reason I got a JAMMA cab in the first place.

Any more shooters than 1942?
Look up at my comments about Forgotten Worlds and check those Gamespot screens again.
Well, other then 1942, 1943 ,1943 Kai, and Forgotten Worlds, there doesn't seem to be too many shooters on this collection, which is really dissapointing.

And personally, I would MUCH rather have the shoulder buttons used for rotation in Forgotten Worlds then either one of the analog sticks.

It certainly would be nice to see Varth on here...

Sigh ignore my post Neon. I didn't mean to come off sounding like an ass. I was in a pissy mood when I replied to that.

By no means is it as bad as SVC Chaos. I was just making the point that having online play doesn't make it any more worthwhile. I'd rather play Capcom vs. snk2 or streetfighter AC online than crappy fighting evo. That's what I meant.

IS there a final list of games for this collection, and if so, where?? I haven't found a final list on IGN or on any other gaming website.

I'd imagine most big sites and mags have the list, but it's probably under some sort of NDA (can't think of any other reason why Capcom is keeping quiet about the entire content).

I just Googled, but the latest info I could find on this Collection is 2 days old; from Gamespot:

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/puzzle/capc ... 24762.html

And as you can see, that's far from the final list.

So if you do get the list that I asked you for in the PM, please do post it in this thread, as I'm sure others would like to see it as well.

Final Fight
Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
Street Fighter II: Turbo
Forgotten Worlds
Ghosts 'n Goblins
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Mercs
Gun.Smoke
Commando
Legendary Wings
Section Z
1942
1943
1943 Kai
Bionic Commando
Hige Maru
SonSon
Trojan
Vulgus
Exed Eyes

So, we've got recycled Capcom Generations material with a few others of which we haven't seen perfect ports before. Still no Black Tiger or Magic Sword. Did Black Tiger bomb so badly in its arcade release for them to never want to touch it again?

I am sure someone will be pissed off, but I'm happy to see those all under one cover for a reasonable price.

Yeah, Magic Sword and Black Tiger are two of the lost, older classics (though some of the ending of Magic Sword pissed me off).

I'd love to see Battle Circuit though or Powered Gear. Or hell, UN Squandron or that other horizontal scroller they did...sheesh...

At least Magic Sword got a good port for SNES. Black Tiger was planned for the NES, but cancelled. I love the arcade Black Tiger (though I had a hard time remembering the name for it for a few years) and am disappointed that it isn't in the collection. However, that is a very solid list of games. In other collections or not, all of those games rock. Also, Final Fight, while having great ports on the GBA and SEGA CD, is a great choice since none of the home versions are arcade perfect. I'm also excited that Bionic Commando and Forgotten Worlds are in the collection. Bionic Commando got some great home versions that are different from the arcade, but it's nice to finally see a port of the arcade version coming home.

OK-no offense, but are you absolutely POSITIVE that this is the final game list?

Doesn't look bad to me; I just really don't understand the point of including the Street Fighter games when you can get those on Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. Still this is well worth it, IMO! :D

Does anyone know of a release date for this Collection?

Now I can't wait to see a final game list for Taito Arcade Classics! :D

The Street Fighter games are in the fifth Capcom generation, so them being included was pretty much a given. Also, considering how Hyper Street Fighter II is nothing more than Super Street Fighter II Turbo with versions of characters from the other games tacked on, I don't mind the inclusion of the earlier SFII games at all.

SFAC only has SF3 Third Strike and Super Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition.

Hmm, so the 6 "new" games are Final Fight, Forgotten Worlds, Legendary Wings, Section Z, Bionic Commando, and Trojan. Not bad at all; they're leaving themselves open to put out a second collection with their more recent stuff (esp. the beat-em-ups) if this one sells well.

Hoepfully, they're arcade emulations and not the PS games considering the PS versions had cut some frames in the SFII games for some reason. Considering all the Capcom Generations games are making it over, I'm guessing not though. Oh well, at least we should have all the extra artwork that was unlockalge on the original discs.

The list pleases The Ghegs. All is good, then. :D
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Mind you, there is a PS1 Horipad which also works on PS2 (great for HSF2 in lieu of an arcade stick), I was quite surprised to find one at a flea market :D

Another forgotten treasure: "Tiger Road". This game rocks as good as Black Tiger. Oh well I'll keep playing the PCB then... ;)

Doesn't matter to me now since they again completely shafted us on 1941. I am VERY angry, not gonna buy the compilation now. And I don't need arcade Bionic Commando, I will just buy the NES cart which some seem to enjoy more anyways. Not too much on the comp I can't buy with either a decent home port or that isn't on the Generation discs.

I agree Dylan1CC-it doesn't look like we'll EVER see the last 3 games in the 194X series released- but for those of us who don't own any of the Capcom Generation volumes; this collection will be great.

OT, does ANYONE know of a final game list for Taito Arcade Classics??

How predictable. With a SF collection already released, why would they even put that trash on this collection. And couldn't they even give us one or two good arcade-only games, Capcom is lazy and out of touch.

Yup. Like I have said before, the Taito comp (despite possible emu or scaling-res problems it may have) is quite a bit more diverse than the Capcom compilation and Capcom shoulda taken notes on it. I mean, if Capcom had made a game like Metal Black, do you think we'd have a good chance of seeing it on their comp? Doubtful. Oh well, someday I will buy the 1941 and XX PCBs.

Yeah, but that's IF the Taito comp. even makes it over to the US. Empire Interactive is based in Europe, and I'm just a little worried that Europe and Japan will get this compilation, and we'll get stiffed-Empire doesn't even have their North American website up yet! :?

Aren't we overreacting a little? 1941 isn't even that good, 1943 crushes it IMO. It'll be nice to have all the Generations discs on 1 volume, without paying ridiculous Saturn import prices.
