did you play on default options Kaiser ?
I doubt to believe you managed to 1cc a game/mode you've never played before, sorry.

Played it a bit today on my friend's PS2 (I wonder when I'll have the time to go and get my own purchased and modded).

Ultra:
moozooh — 2,084,xxx — Stage 2 — PS2 (no rapidfire).

Sorry I can't tell you the last three digits; the game obscures the score almost instantly upon the last death, making it impossible to take a good view of it, unless you make it onto the default scoreboard (obviously I didn't).

Arrange:
moozooh — 92,092,607 — Stage 5 (boss) — PS2 (no rapidfire).

A placeholder score, just for posterity's sake. During the play I tried to remember how to score in this mode, but couldn't. Since I couldn't remember which rapidfire settings are optimal, either, I didn't use it. Died on the last boss's 2nd form.

Maniac - Ravid - 135,445,565 - Stage 5 - PCB

I've noticed that when I really mash the C button fast, it registers in that my options stop firing but I don't get the banking effect. Anyone know why this might be?

Because you either havnt enabled autofire, or arent mashing fast enough (playing it with a auto-fire board is highly appreciated here)

Probably for some reason you're not charging the child counters (or not enough) before tapping C. Try to go with a slow paced A tapping with lasers placed in front of the mid-boss before mashing C. Banal, I know :o

Autofire isn't an option for me I'm afraid.
The problem arises when I mash it faster, so I'm not sure what you mean by 'not fast enough'. When I do it slower (about 6Hz) the counter banking works; I just thought I might get more banks in by tapping faster. Doesn't seem to work for some reason, perhaps because I'm not releasing for long enough between each tap.

edit: just to clarify, I do slow A tap followed by fast C tap normally, and it works fine, except for the above,

Could be a problem of wrong distance, yeah. But it looks like a weird problem anyway. Best thing would be to record some moments of your play and let us see what the hell is going on

Ok, make it 2,084,000 then. :)
I have no access to PS2 atm, otherwise I would have improved it already.
