First of all, check out Aegis Wing. It's a pretty mediocre side shooter, but it's free.
The best vert shooter on Live Arcade is, in my estimation, Triggerheart Exelica. (800 pts)
Assault Heroes is a pretty good scrolling twin stick shooting game, reminiscient of Speed Rumbler. (400 pts)
Geometry Wars is a non-scrolling twin stick shooter, more like Smash TV. Pretty good, however, Geometry Wars 2 will be coming out next month so you may want to wait for that. (400 pts)
Undertow is a twin stick shooter that takes a profile perspective underwater. You can switch between four units (two scooba-equipped guys and two subs) and the idea is to slaughter continually respawning enemies as you whittle down their forces and capture their bases. (800 pts).
Bionic Commando: Rearmed is an incredible looking remake of the NES game Bionic Commando. It will have completely redone graphics, music, improved gameplay, as well as all new features such as multiplayer and challenge missions. It's been promised to come out "soon" and there is a lot of speculation that it will be released this upcoming Wed. (800 pts)

Zuh? Geometry Wars 2 drops next Wed...probably not Bionic Commando. But yeah, looking at all the stuff they've put into GW2, i would just wait for that.
I'm a fan of Space Giraffe, but it is an odd game to get used to. Very audio based, and if you try playing it like Tempest, you'll get rocked.
Can't lose with Rez. Triggerheart and Ikaruga are both nice options for shooters. Assault Heroes is pretty fun...haven't tried the sequel yet.
Outside of that, I'm a fan of Jetpac Refuelled, TMNT Arcade, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat. I also hear Penny Arcade Adventures is pretty much awesome!

Yeah... Capcom of Japan was going to set a solid release date at some press thing, but went into it saying "Due to unforeseen circumstances, it will remain TBA." Maaaaan.ubersaurus wrote:Zuh? Geometry Wars 2 drops next Wed...probably not Bionic Commando.
I love Penny Arcade Adventures! PA humor plus a setting that parodies Lovecraftian 1920s. However, the game is $20 (1600 pts) and only takes about 6 hours per playthrough, so it may not be best for those on a budget.I also hear Penny Arcade Adventures is pretty much awesome!

Actually, the Live Arcade size limit was raised to 350mb. And they've always made exceptions for particularly impressive games (Bionic Commando, SF2HD, etc).opips2 wrote:I don't like this X-360 limit 150mb download. PS3 is unlimited download
I remember I play SOTN castlevaine from PSone Classic is 350Mb than X-360 is 150mb.
crappy game on X-350 arcade download.
best full game software
arcade, dreamcast and gamecube.

just bought Omega 5, 1942 JS and Assault Heroes 2...
ikaruga, THE and REZ, already have'm on DC and PS2, so i dont think im gonna expend some more money on games i already have.
that bioniic commando game looks cool... too bad its not released yet, im loooking forward for it.
you know... it really saddens me that games like Ketsui o DDP DOJ are gonna be released as retail and not thru XBLA... the fact that they will be (almost for sure) region locked kills me, since i'd love to play'em. screw MS and their policies for XBLA games (in this cases ofcourse).

i downloaded Rez HD and gave it a go... like it, but too bad i already ahve the PS2 version.
N+... pretty praised game, and while i like the concept, it didnt really clicked on me... i may give it another go later (but im really waiting for the NDS version of this one...).
and i agree that MS3 its utter crap on XBLA. you can see the filters and all taht shit... didnt like it. anyway, i have MS Anthology for the PSP and PS2 (and dont forget the roms in MAME), so i can easily let this one slide, since there's better options to play it on.

Alright, for those of you who may be interested, the Bionic Commando: Rearmed date is Aug 13th.
This date has been given by Microsoft, and the game's producer said it was done a while ago, so I think it's safe to say that this date will hold...

I'm not going to ramble on forever, because I could, having played way too many XBLA games. The problem is that so many of the games are ports, which are not worth buying if you have already, but I'd have to list them all to be comprehensive.
So all I'm going to say is Space Giraffe is easily the best exclusive (but it's very love/hate, I'm sure you've heard), and Eets and Exit are wonderful top-tier games that haven't been mentioned yet.
