This game will not be well received by everyone. Can't please everybody. Anyway this title looks great and i hope the gameplay hold true to TFV. I liked that title very much as i invested quite a good chunk of time into it. October cant get here soon enough.

does this look more fanmade than what other 3D shooter that's not gradius 5?
some of you guys on here ask for so much when compared to what other examples? It's PS2.... I can't think of another PS2 3D shooter that is better looking other than Gradius 5. Raiden 3 (i guess) and R-type final are in the same league.
looks as good as border down and I never saw folks saying BD is fanmade looking.
I hope it has 480p support but i doubt it.... i'll just use the PS3 to fix that.

Dude, whoever asks for a superb mega-detailed 3d graphics (read: most of people here in this thread) are bunch of losers which don't appreciate effort put into the game, YOU HEAR IT GRAPHIC NERDS, YOU ARE LOSERSStrider77 wrote:does this look more fanmade than what other 3D shooter that's not gradius 5?

It's a new shooter (the most important point). It's for PS2. It puts back a guitar-driven soundtrack (I hope so...), it's all ships and manly mecha plus missiles. Zero loli/cutesy crap so far. I'm more than happy with the game so far.

NOW REACHES THE FATAL ATTRACTION BE DESCRIBED AS "HELLSINKER". DECIDE DESTINATION.

that wasn't really my point..... but there are no next gen shooters yet and won't be for awhile by the looks at it. sure there will be some shooter on 360 but nothing that is gonna push the hardware like G5 did on PS2.
i guess that's what everyone is wanting out of TF6, next gen graphics or something to blow G5 out of the water. if so... reality check.

Agreed. And even GV does in some places. Basically, everything that's supposed to look organic looks terrible, with the organic wall being the low point. It's pretty obvious why Treasure decided to sacrifice the traditional diversity of the Gradius series in favour of their trademark (highly polished yet not entirely un-generic) technoid style.Rob wrote:Good point, they all look ugly and cheap.Strider77 wrote:does this look more fanmade than what other 3D shooter that's not gradius 5?

The reason I believe I'll never understand about 80% of Gradius V criticism is that most of the game (by far) is comprised of the earlier games of the series, namely Gradius II GnY and Gradius III, except with more r-typeish gameplay and much enhanced visuals.

sorry, but border down's artwork is much more refined IMHO, the geometry on the the models on TF6 looks very basic, and the texturing is rather sloppy.
I can't help but be picky.. I'm do games graphics for a living, have done for 17 years, for sega included.
the TF series has had some great art, especially TF4 and I really expected sega to bust out something special..
it"s not that I HATE it, just expected a lot more from those guys.

How do you know? you can judge texture work from a low res video compared to VGA on the DC.... at least wait for a hands on look.
You guys are looking to hate it.....
G5 looked great border down did to but the poly count was deffinately lower and had less color and effects.
You do know that G-rev was responsible wore the backgrounds in G5 right?
Do you really feel that much more special then everyone else if you hate something that's liked. Does it make you elite?
So what games have you done texture work in then??? what amazing games have you worked on.

Its not about poly count or other technical things, its about just how good the art direction/artwork itself is. G-Darius and Raystorm are early 3d attempts but look stunning. Stuff like Gradius 5 and R-Type Final are newer efforts and look stunning. TF6 from the vid and screens just looks remarkably uninteresting.
Well we'll see how it all is, when its released.

to each his own but those TF ships designs as as good as ever.... shifting perspective is cool new plus.
I'm sold and very grateful this is coming out.... I'm grateful when ANY shooter comes out these days.
Those of you moaning and groaning.... I really like to know what 3D shooters you guys have been so spoiled on. Border Down, Ikaruga, Under Defeat, R-Type Final, and Gradius 5 are the only one in the same league so far.
To me this looks just as good as all but G5.....
How can you guys make such steadfast gripes from a crappy vid. I mean when i look at that vid I know:
A: the framerate will be a hell of alot smoother
B: the colors will be alot more vivid
C: the resolution will be MUCH better (especially in 480p via my PS3)
D: the texture work will be much cleaner
E: i'll get to actually *GASP* play the complete game and see all of it.
I bet if the same game had G-revs name slapped on it and was on DC the same haters would be all over it.
Honestly what are you so spoiled by.... PLEASE I'd like to know so I can play these magical shooters.

I detect a stench of fanboyism coming from you, Strider77. :\
You just dismiss every opinion that you don't like and label them as groans and whatnot. Yet you make an effort to comment every such opinion while failing to address valid (actually) points brought up in them.
PS3 doesn't magically add detail to the texture, nor does make the models look and move less clunky, nor add enemy fire (unless the game contains only stage bosses and popcorn enemies that die before they have an option to shoot you), but I'm sure you know that anyway.
You're sold and all that — we figured. Let the others say what they think.

Because nothing valid or of value has actually been said. it actually looks like a fucking Thunder Force game, which is damn impressive considering Technosoft and all the important people in the series' inception aren't anywhere near it. I'm really liking the visual style used despite all of this (read: pointless moaning) about graphics not being up to snuff. they look FAR better than most 3D shooters, and it's honestly more pleasing to the eye than any other 3D shooter that has come out semi recently.moozooh wrote:I detect a stench of fanboyism coming from you, Strider77. :\

Would you be so kind as to list some of those 3D shooters so that I could try comparing them?Gungriffon Geona wrote:I'm really liking the visual style used despite all of this (read: pointless moaning) about graphics not being up to snuff. they look FAR better than most 3D shooters, and it's honestly more pleasing to the eye than any other 3D shooter that has come out semi recently.

Hello Shmuppers!
I really enjoy the shmups messageboards, but most time i´m too lazy to post something. I´m a TF Fan, since i got my first MD, back in 89. My favorites of the series are: 1.TF5 (SAT) ,2.TF4,3.TF2,3.TF3,4.TFAC. I´m one of the guys that checked tecnosofts website day by day since thunderforce 5 was released, only hoping that one day a new TF game will be announced. I remember when TF4 came out, i had to buy a new tv, because my tv couldn´t handle RGB. So i throwed out a few 100 bucks for a tv just to play TF4 (the only game with rgb - region lock) Crazy, huh?
I don´t care if TF6 is done by Tecnosoft or by Sega, as long as the spirit of the game is intact. I´ll know that the game will please the TF Fans or at least myself and i´m really no fanboy. We have a talentend and motivated staff working on the game and "garow" a the japanese die hard TF Fan and a very talented artist is also involved in TF6. (ever wondered why garows website http://liberty-hp.ddo.jp/tf/thunderfuture hasn´t been updated since nearly one year? So i´ll keep my fingers crossed and wait for october30th.
@strider77: i totally agree with your statements *Cheers*
