Darius (Original) Arcade/PCE

I was just wondering what difficulty you arcade/MAME players are playing on? Because the hi-score for this game is only ~4.41m on Twin Galaxies, but you have to play on Medium with no auto-fire.

Regardless, its nice to see that there actually is people who still appreciate this game(one of the best shmups, IMO). I recently revisited this game on MAME, hooked up to a 42" LCD screen and arcade stick. So much fun almost like playing at the arcade

Also, in regards to the gray point bubbles, they are not random. You can time them to get 51200 every time, although I don't know exactly how it works I know this is true. If you record a game on MAME, It simply records your directional inputs and button presses. Now if you go to watch your recording it doesn't actually play a video, it starts a new game up and plays it by using your recorded input data. Since the score bubble value remains the same in the replay it has to be a time based thing.

I believe that the score bubbles start at a certain number and rapidly cycle through the min/max bonus. I am not sure though if every bubble starts its cycle at the same value(I tend to think not). It also may be possible that starting value for the bubbles is affected by the amount awarded from previous ones or maybe starting value is different for each bubble??

I don't believe that I used autofire in my Darius video on Super-play, and I score 5.23 million on that, so I'm the best in the world

About the bubbles, on Darius Gaiden, I can get 51k on the first 2 medals, and then usually one more in the rest of the game, I also belive that they are timed somehow.

You should beat the score on their website man, you have to log in to their client and play though.

Ahh Darius Gaiden, I used to play that a lot on the Saturn, tough game. I just played a couple games on MAME, can't even pass the 3rd stage, I suck

I was wondering the same just now.
I can't check it out because I don't have a PCE multitap to activate the boss rush in Super Darius.
