SHMUPS.com VS. Clique Stick.com.

Post by TWITCHDOCTOR »

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU'RE THE OFFENSIVE TYPE!!!!!!!!! Go away!

Notice I spelled Click-Stick as "Clique"...as in a small group of people shunning all outsiders.

I'm growing sick and tired of the bullshit between these two "Shooting Game" oreintated websites.

Yea, the "DOC" had to bring this up! I'm not afraid of anything, or anybody. My internet name still stands, I'am the TWITCHDOCTOR anyway you look at it! [Damn, I really sounded stupid there...I guess I can thank the beer for that]

Its really stupid. I would like to see the community come together as a whole. Why all the BULLSHIT!? Which Click's site seems to frown upon anyway ,but still it goes on to this day?

Dudes, you can have you're own thing...thats fine and cool, but people from Shmups don't CONSTANTLY toss "shit" around everyday, like what I've seen from Clicks site. (you know who you are!)

We all have a common goal and interest, lets share it? Some people have become to HATE the term "SHMUP" itself...you guys are THAT fucking hardcore to dislike a term used to differentiate a word that explainse the genre we like and enjoy!? GET THE FUCK OVER IT AREADY!!!

Seriously here, we've become like the movie "Lord Of The Flies"! (its a total GEEK movie anyway...but it serves a lession to be learned) Hopefully some will learn the lession.

Yea, this might be the internet and all, but Shmups has evolved into a "community"...a friendly place for fans to hang out and talk...whatever the hell we want to talk about...ITS A CLUB!!!

Some of us here are actually friends in REAL life...so when someone's feeling down and out , we share some of the emotion as friends... we're not here to piss upon enternet strangers like some fucknut that just wandered in, and strayed in rambling on.

Damn...I hope this rant makes some sense because, I at least know most of us here are MATURE enough to know the difference! I just hope that everyone reading this will somehow think about whats going on around here, and "there"...
Get over it...and God bless.

PS: No flames please! I ain't fucking hearing it!

BTW: Kaneda(NTSC-J) and #28 Technophile...before you go off and act like total JERKS that you're already made yourselves out to be, think about what I'm trying to say here...

Well, like it or not, they have their own tight-knit community over there, and there's nothing wrong with that. The core group seems like a pretty good group of friends, and there's nothing wrong with wanting a discussion board for your friends. It just so happens that this particular group of friends shares a common hobby with much of this board, as well as a common disdain for some of the topics/posters that frequent this board.

It's kind of like message board that have a "veterans" section. I know that personally, there are a few topics/posters here that make me wish there was an ignore function for the forum. I also know that there are a lot of posters here that I really enjoy hearing from. They've just chosen to have all of the latter with none of the former.

This isn't really such a big issue; wanting the whole "shmup community" to come together is kind of like wanting the KKK to join the NAACP, you know? Pretty extreme(ly crappy) example, but obviously there are some differences that the Click crew just doesn't feel are worth overcoming.

That was a very bad example, and you know it!!! The "Bullshit" between these two forums are way different. Don't even start! "They", ALL originated from here! They simply felt that they needed a forum of their own. It seems to "bullshit" about this forum...Yea, fucking mature lads they are.
I mean, every other fucking thread over there reads as "dis'ing" SHMUPS.com.
Like I said, get over it already...move on..Mature guys..no Bullshit All Arcade talk. Yea right!?

I can see how some people can, and will never be able to "get together" so to speak, but you're not really contributing to the issue at hand... so most of your words are are falling on deaf ears.

If you're really persistant in defending these guys so much, why don't you frequent there more often?

LOOK, we either stand together, or we're divided...whats it going to be?

Though some of the members at CS(again: you know who you are R,K, and #) can be asses, the site still has some nice and friendly members, some of them also coming this forum. Click-Stick himself seems like a nice guy who sometimes even tries to put some members writing flamey stuff (although they will probably deny it being that... ) in their place. He's just very serious about the nature of his site and dislikes trolling/useless posts... and I think that this is his good right. The site is a valuable source of info, news and links.

This site and Click-Sticks site actually complement eachother.
This being my favourite site on the web doesn't prevent me respecting CS's site and a lot of it's members.
The "mud throwing" from either side should stop though.

Damn, you are one entertaining individual, I'll give you that. My intentions were just to make light of the situation given your first post in this thread contradicting your second post. Sorry, I thought you weren't being serious.

If you are itching for a fight that badly, then why don't you show us how much of a "real man" you are and post your concerns over on the CS board? Or are you....scared? :D Its not like they are going to be reading posts down here in the bit-bucket section...

"Clique-Stick" Now that is comedic brilliance!

And first let me mention that Click himself is the nicest guy on the net. I really respect what he's trying to do with that place and am impressed with what he's accomplished.

I once participated in some videogame elitism forum war malarkey. It now seems so funny from the outside looking in. I think that most of my rudeness came from being dissatisfied with my life/lifestyle. Now I just avoid the forum that used to bug me and *poof* it might as well have disappeared. I don't know those people and they don't know me. Easy.

You'd think it would be just that easy for everyone to tune out like I done. But I suppose on the one hand you have the happy go lucky down to earth socialites that just want everyone to get along. I applaud them, though I do think it would behoove them to just forget about it. And then of course on the other hand you get some guys who just want be big on the internet. Exhibit a little cybersuperiority now that they're free from the bonds that the tyrranical shmups.com had on them for all these hard years. Good for a laugh from others but I suspect it only makes them even more miserable in real life. Sowing negativity at every available opportunity and all. It's gotta be hard on a guy's psyche always remembering to be angry about something that really didn't hurt in the first place.

What was the first shooting game specific forum on the English speaking internet where Cave, Raizing and Psikyo were made into household names for disrespectful youngsters who wanna be big online? It had to start somewhere. I'd rather show respect where respect is due. Shmups.com deserves it as much as TFP and click-stick.com.

Don't blame an entire forum for the sparse comments of a few. I don't see a divide, and I don't see a rivalry. C-S's forums are very down-to-business and focused on news and game mechanics, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I read the forums there nigh every day and the only animosity toward shmups.com I've seen is in a single thread that's months (years?) old. Some people frequent C-S for its particular specific focus on news and discussion, some people frequent forums.shmups.com for its atmosphere, and some frequent both. They definitely complement each other and there's no reason to raise the pitchforks for a forum war that doesn't exist.

Besides, some of the more inflammatory types on C-S frequent these forums as well, and their comments don't change based on where they're posting.

I'm also sensing a silent majority here who don't really give a hell about forum wars and the like.

Af people want to be elongated and liberal, they can post here. If they feel like being to-the-point and conservative, they can go to C-S. If they don't mind either, they can stay at both. It's no big deal for me and I couldn't really care less.

Videogame elitism...excuse me while I laugh my ass off. Videogames have always and hopefully will always be a big part of my life. Second only to music as far as my passions go, but I am disturbed by how serious some people take themselves and their hobby. Don't forget your place people...we discuss video games over the internet, we are not curing cancer or anything else even remotely important (in the grand scheme of things mind you.) The thought of one shmupper looking down thier nose at another when we are all gaming dorks (don't fight it, embrace it!) is both laughable and sad at the same time. If you depend on the videogame scene to feel better about yourself over others I feel sorry for you.

That's funny... and I understand it too. Kosh (now Dillan1CC) was shocked that I welcomed him back, after his time away from shmups forum. He was shocked because, appearantly, we had some heated spat on the old forum. I could have harbored anger all that time, but instead, I quickly forgot and now I can't, for the life of me, even recall what it was about! That's how important it was ;)

Ok...first, I need to finally realize that its not always a good idea to type at an internet forum while under the influence of alcohol. (while slightly drunk...beyond a cool buzz, if you know what I'm talking about?)

Second, I realized a long time ago, that I cannot change the world, or the people in it...even if only a few. One can however, try to influence others ways of thinking...in this case, my intentions were good, but I doubt they will accomplish anything, as it seems that some might be set in their ways and idea's.

I like to visit Clicks website every once in a while, but only as a "guest", and I never post, because I know that I'm hated over there. Its a long stupid story, but somehow- someway (along the way) I got involved with whatever you would call it.

There does exsist a "rivalry" of sorts, as its quite common to read "Shmups" bashing in various threads. It would be cool if everyone was...well, cool.
I could be reading a thread about a Cave game, only to read something negative about this site, or even a "word" that people are now avoiding by the use of "S*****". Its as if its a plague or something.
Well, I can't help but roll my eyes and shake my head when I read this kind of stuff. This is what I would like to see less of.

The "comming together" was just a term that I used. As I cannot imagine everyone actually "comming together", "Hands Across The Nation" type stuff. Yea, I know...it sounds funny.

I also realize that this is the internet...the worlds playground.
Many people use internet forums for intertainment, information, venting, etc.
Its also a great place to "speak your mind", and share opinions, which is exactly what I have done. Everyone else seems to be doing it?

As far as me writing a post about this over "there"... I'm not scared, but I'm also not stupid either. I know news travels fast over the internet, and I'm willing to bet that "they" are already well informed about this.
I'm even guessing that the "Guest" posting feature will now officially be removed, to prevent people like myself from visiting. Because in their eyes, I'm part of a vicious plague...

I'm not sure what the particular inspiration was for this thread, I haven't seen any shmups.com bashing at click's board for a while now (I guess I've been slackin haha), but while we're here...

On behalf of click-stick.com BBS, I accept the challenge for total forum supremacy. It is no question that click's site delivers the most up-to-date and important news, and it is no question that the forum is so dense with quality content, as to make lesser forums buckle under the weight of such an overwhelming prescence. It is perhaps no exaggeration to say that each post at click-stick.com carries 210% the quality seen in your average shmups.com post (at 300% less crybaby!), and since we have fewer members, it becomes a message board experience worth treasuring.

In short, click-stick.com still wears the belt and will continue to as long as shmups.com keeps on doin' it's thing.

Whatever...keep on wearing your belt Kaneda, I'm not at all interested in the "supremacy" you speak of either.

@ NTSC-J (or should I just call you Kaneda!?):

Why throw oil on the flame?
Why the hate? Why continue acting like a dick?
Click Stick is a very respectworthy site and deserves much praise but people like you are disgracing the board there with the mud-throwing and elitist behaviour...

Just see both sites as complimentary... which they are! Click-Stick is the best site for news... but I also very much like the more light-hearted discussion here which sometimes really puts things in perspective...

In short: Both sites are great for me... no need for one of both to "wear the belt"!

If you don't like one of the sites than just stop visiting it!

I'd agree that click's has a lot less bullshit posts (what's your favourite, etc), on the flip side it's a bit like highschool but without the drugs, everyone has to agree on everything and all that.

Just goes down to your preferences forum-wise I guess. shmups is a bit more entertaining for me since it gets more posts. I don't post at clicks, cause I doubt they want shmups dot commies there and they probably wouldn't want to read through most of my bs anyways  I understand their desire for a separate forum, thoe.

Only thing that bothers me about C_S is that there seems to be quite a bit of elitism floating around. I'd go make an account there, but maybe they'll consider me a nuisance since it's a site about news, and I got nothing newsworthy to post about. Plus, maybe I'd be too mainstream for them, too dumb or something else.

I'll be the first to admit that its often hard to overlook negative things some may say, but when you're drunk and aggrevated, it becomes near impossible to ignore such trivial things.

The whole purpose of this thread is to ask some members from Click-Stick.com to accept a "truce" with Shmups.com.
Its perfectly fine to be neighbors and all, and I don't feel "threatened" in any way/shape, or form, nor do I consider any side to be superior...I just don't approve of when my neighbors decide to take a piss on our side of the fence.

Yes its true, Shmups.com does have a variety of characters posting in here. There are lots of "Bullshit" type posts, but more importantly, some forget that this is a social site/forum for fans to talk and hang out. Everyone should feel free to start a thread...even if some consider it to be bullshit.

Hell, I've been a member here since almost the very begining, and there were not very many people here at that time. Maybe around 20?
Don't hate Shmups.com because it grew to the size it is now.

Which is exactly what happend to me when I created an account over there...well, one thing led to another and here we are.
I should mention though...things "started up" even before Click's website was up and running. I remember Kaneda saying/complaining about people's 1CC lists and threads.(which was how I got involved in this whole mess, remember? I had just created that 1CCHigh Score List) He was also bothered by someones thread that was about "Which Shmups Are Easy To Beat" or something along those lines. If I remember correctly, he or someone else made the comparison to having one night stands with women...as in "Hey, I got laid last night/1CC DonPachi". Hey, also, which other chicks around are "easy"?

Anyway, I think thats were and when it all started, if anyone cares.
