Cyvern emulation update

Post by Necronom »

Since there seems to be no discussion thread about Cyvern only and considering that this is actually pretty good news not everybody might be aware of:

"In other news, I took a look back at the Kaneko Supernova driver and fixed up the priorities for Cyvern. The Speed took a bit of a nosedive in the process, but it’s a stunning game, and looks even better with proper rendering order."

Underrated and never ported shmup gem. Well worth to be checked out in Mame if you're not one of those lucky pcb owners.

Fixed emulation of Cyvern is certainly great news, even though i don't think missing sprites affected gameplay.

Looks like they also fixed ESD games, so soon you'll be able to "enjoy" perfect emulation of shittiest shmup in known universe.

I thought it looks great in MAME anyway. Had no idea something was missing.

Well, before the fix (and past the second level!) there were a lot enemies rendered incorrectly above other objects. It didn't stop you from playing it but the graphics were obviously messed up.
Emulation is still not perfect but the fix is a huge step towards a properly emulated Cyvern.
