After interpreting Babelfish's babble it just seems to say that Gradius Rebirth for Wii Ware has been accounced but no release date is known yet.

Also:

Skeptical about this one? I'm just hoping it isn't just a re-release, and is a new game in it's own right.

As long as it's a new game and not a remake, I'm happy.

Excellent news. The screenshot's making all the right noises, at least.

Oh, and can we give it a while before any of us slip into 'curmudgeonly bore mode'? That'd be lovely. ;)

Those "details" are the same stuff famitsu wrote, and that's even the same screenshot. IGNorant stole it and cropped it so you can't see the famitsu logo.

Well spotted Ceph! Good old Fox eh? Ah well, at least we got it in English I guess. Not that there was a great deal there to start with! A fellow hack is over at E3 now, and I've done my best to get him to hassle Konami for more. So far the UK team know nothing much they can say.

And I'm with Bal-Sagoth. I'm going to remain upbeat about this one for now.

i might be a bit alone with this opinion, but i would have liked a 2,5D gradius (like V) better. This would have been absolutely possible within the 50mb limit games have for wiiware. This would help the sales a lot.

Well, Gradius Rebirth has to be more than just the original game prettied-up. In the screenshot the guy's got 2-way missiles.

Konami must have been laughing their asses off when they gave Famitsu this screenshot. A MOAI STAGE!? It's so totally distinctive from the dozen or so other Moai stages we've seen in the series.

If we can get Star Solider R, I dunno why not this.

Looks like Gradius III.

*shrug*

I'll still buy it.

Awesome news. I knew Konami wasn't done after Gradius V.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Apparently this was only announced for Japan. Anyone know if it's coming to U.S. (or anywhere else)?

Yes!

Well, those explosions don't look much like SNES material. Looks more like what Gradius IV might have been back in 1990. It may turn out to look like Xexex.

For a title on one of the latest generation of consoles this looks like absolute garbage so far. :?

That said, it's a new Gradius. With Moai and good old Vic.
#1 reason for owning a Wii from now on for me.

Well, I think to keep the budget down they've purposefully chosen the "retro" style.

When I saw this, I marked out, I know this isn't Gradius 6 but it looks to follow in the footsteps of Mega Man 9, this time not quite going back as far though.

I´m 99% convinced that this is going to be a remake of an older Gradius title.

That's exactly how it sounds to me. Not a new Gradius, but and old one reborn, hence Gradius Rebirth?

Gradius 4 was already Gradius Rebirth.

ick. Based on this one screenshot- if the rest of this game looks like this I won't shed a tear if I never play it. I'd love the next gradius to be in Widescreen, HD- or on par or above gradius 5. Anything less than at least that I think I'll politely pass on.
