Post by Skykid »

Yesssss!

Finally I 1cc'd a Cave game, and I was running around punching the air yesterday night. The feeling of success reminded me about everything that makes video games so great, and some kind of conclusion to this thread:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 06&start=0

Okay, so most of you will probably sniff at the accomplishment: I know it's not the greatest of challenges, but to me it's some kind of milestone. I think having a cab to play it on made a big difference too.

So, Mushihimesama - Original - W-Power - All clear - No continues

Nice. :)

I'll be joining you in the "I 1cc'd a Cave game" club soon, when I finish a Progear 1-ALL (or a DDP 1-ALL, but Progear seems more feasible now).

Nice, surprised you managed Mushi original as your first. I've 1cc'd plenty of Cave titles, but Mushi original is still too fast for me ;)

Thanks guys, I feel really happy to have joined the club! :D

I was working on Progear for a while but got really distracted by attempting to score really high, and that ruined my play so I went off it a bit. I think it's definitely best to finish the game first, then learn to score afterward.

Nice one mate!

Two days after my first Cave 1CC! The Casino crew are on the up!

The pressures on both of us for a repeat performance at this weekend's London Mini Meet then!

I know exactly how that celebration feels. Were you sporting an inane, beaming grin for the following 24 hours like me?

Ha ha! Yes!

So you finally laid Progear to rest? Well done mate, that's a tough nut to crack.
You're lucky to have so much exposure to the arcade - where I am, there's not much. Until now of course :D

I finished it yesterday (Sunday) so was it one ot two days after your victory?

I think I cracked the bugger on Thursday, or maybe Friday...

Anyway, we deserve to be worshiped like kings this weekend. I think if there's a trip down to the road to the Troc, me and you should be carried on the others' shoulders. Perhaps with one or two ahead scattering rose petals on the floor like in the beginning of Coming To America, except without the Royal penis washing maybe...

Congratulations! It's an amazing feeling. I still haven't 1cc'd a Cave game (DDP will probably be my first but I'm still a ways off); my only "1cc" (barely) was Ikaruga on easy mode, with 2 mill extends and 5 stock, so it's hardly even legitimate, but when I finally beat it after working for months and months it felt like such an incredible accomplishment, I was happy for the rest of the day. Now, easy with default settings, I can only get to level 4 or so...but one day I'll take that down too.
"I think Ikaruga is pretty tough. It is like a modern version of Galaga that some Japanese company made."

It's a damn sight harder than Original. I'm consistently reaching stage 4, but haven't beaten it yet. Interestingly enough, the machine at Casino Arcade has recorded my top Maniac scores as Ultra scores :o

I guess I'll come to the minimeet; it would be good to meet some more shmuppers :)

It will be low-key, but everyone coming is really sound (even Skykid, who is 10 feet high and covered in hair)

If you want to add another title to the list Skykid, you ought to try ESPGaluda as it pretty easy :P

Mushi Original with W-power was also my first 1cc for a Cave game, in 2006.

Boy, that sure does bring back memories.

Yep, I'll be there with spadgy, who's 36 centimeters and completely bald. Good at Progear though.

I actually got to the last boss on ESPrade, but only once. It's actually debateable how easy that one is - some reckon its a really tough game.
Either way, i have every intention of cracking it.

Thanks for all the congrats too guys - that 1cc came out of nowhere, I actually stupidly lost two lives by the second level and nearly jacked it all in.

Good job!

While everyone says Mushi original is an easy 1cc, I personally find it to be a tough challenge. I'm lucky if I can get past stage 3.

Looking forward to your next 1cc.

well done mate 8)

a bit of advise though - try switching to S type for original mode :)

Thanks Jpj, I'll give it a go if you reckon it helps. W seems really strong and quick though, I like it (but I reckon it might not be too good for scoring - not that I know how scoring works.)

Kaede, I don't know if I can perform uinder the pressure (only done it once!) But I'll give it a shot.

W is the slowest dude :o good for maniac and ultra, but it's S type all the way for original (W is slightly better for points, but the speed increase for S type is worth it)

regarding the scoring, not much to learn here. when you beat the last boss, you get 10 mill for each extra life, so use bombs as and when needed! and if you didn't already know, there's a 1-up hidden in stage 3 just before the boss. the weird head thing, make sure to destroy all parts of the columns on left and right (total of six), before destroying the head :) (use a bomb to traverse the screen, if needed)

and what the fuck is this Jpj business? it's all lowercase
