Wacky Scoring Systems
Experimental and the like? I'm really turned on by them. I'd rather you NOT rank them though.

Pretty much any non-chaining Cave scoring system is awesome, I think.
The recent Eden's Aegis PC freeware release has an amazing scoring system too, with bullet canceling, medal chaining, and a counter system. Really very fun.

For "conceptual weirdness" it's tough to beat Night Raid (only game I can think of offhand where you can go for a negative score), though the actual "stuff you have to do" to score isn't particularly odd. RSG's scoring system is also kinda weird when you think about it..."only kill those, leave everything else alone!" The pesudo-chaining found in Cotton 2 and Boomerang is also somewhat unusual, imo. Not to mention the "less lives = more points" system found in Under Defeat and...that one obscure arcade shooter.
