A highly anticipated sequel is approaching fast!
Shmup name: Thunderforce VI
Our hope for a sequel died three times and was reborn twice...
Yes,
a mainstream gaming forum has obtained the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, containing the following official japanese release date for TF6:

Could 11 years of waiting be finally over.

holy SHIT....
I'm actually letting myself get a tad excited... I hope this is not BS.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Keeping it PS2 makes sense for Technosoft, who probably don't have a lot of money at the moment.
This could be full of awesomeness, as long as they've been developing all this time, and not just cranking out a rushed title in three months.
Don't just dodge bullets, dance around them.

Pretty please be true.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I went.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE.
Might as well call it Zombieforce VI at this point.

I'm not expecting much, but, I hope it's less like TFV on Saturn & PS1, more like TFIII, TFIV on MD/Gen.

First details, allegedly translated from Famitsu by the forum that broke the news...
Thunderforce VI is developed by Sega . It is directed by Tez Okano , the writer and director of Segaga for DC and Astro Boy Omega Force for GBA. He says that his favorite entry in the Thunderforce series is IV . The game is 3D but still a horizontal shooter .

Thunderforce VI - PS2 - 10/30
That looks like what the score Famitsu gives it will be. Interesting and unexpected news, anyway.

Mother of pearl. This may be the very thing that causes me to finally break down and buy a PS2, if you can believe that.

This looks very well! I've never been into TF series (tried TF III, iirc, but didn't enjoy it), but I'd like to try this one.

Bad translation, the article says that his favorite weapon is Blade in TF4 not that TF4 is his favorite game in the series....go go internet Japanese students
Also says that it is not the original staff working on this game.

I really didn't think this was real until I saw that magazine scan. And still, I can't quite 100% believe it... Wow. And only a few months to wait too.

OMG I can't wait. Looks a lot, to me, like Gradius V from the picts. If its anything close to that Treasure game....I can't wait.
TF3 is probally my fav game of all time, 4 and 5 are very close behind.
I am sooooo happy
I hope Sega brings it out in the US...If not, I am glad I kept my PS2 (for importing) after getting my PS3.
.....now we need Axelay 2

Pretty interesting that they'd announce then release the game in a 3 month span.
