So far I am at the Meryl bit on chapter 1 and I can't even beat that bit. I'm surrounded by people that all look the same and until they start shooting at me I can't even tell if they are enemy or friendlies. My friends have beaten it two or three times so I have to just admit defeat. But with all games that have FPS controls, I suck. I can unload a whole magazine and barely hit anything.

Glad everyone is enjoying it, it just makes me pull my hair out.
It was hard to distinguish enemies for me as well. Don't worry, it's only like that for the beginning of the game. It does take a while to get used to the new aiming/shooting system.

lol... it took my awhile to get use to the old aiming/shooting system than it did for me to play MGS4.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Since this is the spoilers thread, why did Kojima say that everyone would like Raiden at the end? What does he do that would make him more of a badass (besides the cybernetic enhancements) and less of a whiny pretty face?
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

Yeah Oscar, he was front and center in a few very cool and over the top action scenes. Personality wise I didn't see much of a change besides a gloomier attitude.

And lets face it, whenever the Japanese want to make someone 'cooler', they just give them a gloomier attitude.

Doesn't always work thought, because westerners have a different definition of cool I think (Like Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club or Marty Mcfly in BTTF).

I thought they tried a little too hard to make him likeable, but he was certainly better than in MGS2. My girlfriend liked him anyway, she kept whining every three seconds "Is he going to die?...

If you read on why Raiden was created in the first place, it was to make females like the series more.

Hey, just finished watching this game and have no idea what the hell it was all about. I think it was batshit insane. Especially the epilogue, which throws you a wrench just when you thought you had a remote idea what the plot was about.

Someone illuminate me on the story and call me an idiot if you want.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

I don't really know what the heck it's about either - quite enjoyed it in the end though.

I'm right there, still defending the game and its characters, although they need not. MGS2 was still the peak of the series' message (of course it's a sin in the videogame world to be so pretentious), and now that the tide of new has cooled off, the majority agrees that the fourth one was a not so accomplished attempt at explain things that really didn't need any explanation to begin with. Even Kojima wasn't exactly contempt with the outcome.

About having a bishonen in the series, there's nothing wrong with that. Snake is a rugged manly hero, it's quite natural that Kojima needed an effective counterpart to him. Alucard works the same way...
