Moving to Canada

Post by Sly Cherry Chunks »

I'm finally abandoning Blighty in favour of the True North Strong and Free - which, in a way, is a bit bit of a shame because I never got round to checking out the Casino arcade (I'm sure I wandered in there once a long time ago but I never met up with any other shmupos).

I'll be living in Nova Scotia, I'm lucky enough to have connections to the community there (namely my girlfriend), otherwise my application for residency would have taken about 4 years or something.

Never mind that, anyway - I've looked into plug socket converters and voltage adapters. Does anyone have any advise on getting my PAL equipment running? I'm bring my PC plus a bunch of consoles. Any help much appreciated.

Also general /hello to all canadian users.

/bye UKers.

Welcome aboard! I've never been anywhere in the maratimes outside of Halifax, but based on my time there I agree with the above sentiments about drinking.

Also, I hope you're not a fresh fish fan because even though it's right next to the ocean you can't find a piece of fish that's not battered and fried.

But I'm telling this to a guy from England...

Try to hit up Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, and Vancouver. All worth the trip.

Quebec City is beautiful, but don't expect great moments of gaming there, unless you bring your gear!

oh shoot, you just missed the 400year anniversary of Quebec City.

of course I'm biased, but I should add Ottawa to that list. I know the place like the back of my hand too if you have any questions.

Anyway, welcome to Canada. Bienvenue au Canada!

Yes, I have witnessed the milk in bags.

Not much of a drinker - but thats only because I cant find anywhere in the UK that serves Alexander Keith's so I dont forsee any problems there.

Seen Toronto and will be visiting again this August.

Quebec City is very nice, wouldnt mind going back in the winter to see what its like. I bet it's great for sledging what with half the city built on a vertical incline.

Toronto isn't the clean inspiring city most may remember from the 70's... I'd skip it.

ok, I'm just hating. Lots of cool stuff in Toronto.

I think the milk-in-bags may be a Quebec, or east coast thing. I moved to Vancouver and have yet to see any, they are all in cartons here.
