Capcom Classics collection announced

Post by Cthulhu »

Hey, I was they guy who said it wouldn't happen anytime soon either. I was wrong. And I'm very, very happy to be wrong.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/puzzle/cap ... 24762.html

Most of the games are still unannounced, but I'm thrilled nonetheless. Forgotten Worlds, 1942, Ghosts n' Goblins, Bionic Commando are all in, and all the arcade versions. Woot! :D

It's not mentioned in the article, but there are shots of 1943 and 1943 Kai in the screenshot gallery.

I just hope there's some news that comes out about it at E3-namely a final game list, and a release date. We're already going to get no more information about US Taito Arcade Classics in the near future because Empire Interactive doesn't have a booth at the Expo.

It looks like another collection of games everyone has already played in an inferior form. G&G, Final Fight, geez, how about some games not released on previous consoles 10x already. How about 1941, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, give us something worth a damn Capcom.

Commando? Nah man I want Mercs

I'll still get it though, for the original Final Fight alone (Don't have Mega CD).

SCD Final Fight isn't a perfect arcade conversion anyway by any means, just incredibly accurate for a home console in its day, far moreso than the SNES version.

Cool, if the SCD Final Fight wasn't that perfect, all the more reason for me to get this one. :D

I actually thought Capcom fighting evolution was just barely an average fighting game to be honest.

Wow... I hope that the majority of the rest of the games aren't games that were already on the Capcom Generations discs... =/

But Final Fight! Man I loved the original Arcade version. Let's hope it isn't censored though. Or maybe give a region select option.

I must be one of the few people on the planet who has never played G&G, so I don't mind the re-hashing one bit. There should be enough "new" stuff as well.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I think the idea has been from the onset that this would essentially rehash all the releases on the generations discs with a few additions.

Going into it with that knowledge, I don't know why people are upset...

One of the screens shows Forgotten Worlds. It got a good port for the Genesis, but since the home ports on Sega Master System, Genesis, and TG-16 are all missing something from the arcade, I'm glad that it will probably be in the collection.

from 1up.com's E3 coverage of Capcom's Press Conference:

"Capcom Classics, an arcade compilation of dozens of games ranging from Section Z and 1942 to Bionic Commando."

Any kind of "collection" sounds good to me...especailly from Capcom.

I'm still waiting for that Cave Collection though...

Honestly I'm really hoping for Black Tiger...coz that game hasn't kicked my ass enough yet.

Of course the really important this is if it will offer tate like Generations does.

I hope they make use of the 2 dual analog sticks on the PS2 port for forgotten world (left one for shot direction; the right one to move the character, and the 'X' button to shoot); the experience would then be really close to the the original coinop.

Well, they could just use the left stick for movement and the right for shot direction/firing like Robotron. If they do what you suggest, they'd have to stick fire on one of the shoulder buttons, cos shooting with X would be damn near impossible if you had both hands on the analog sticks.

I like this idea- Robotron style with the shoulder button to shoot.

Holding R3 -pushing in the Right stick- could work as well. This is a tad similar to the arcade's way of doing it (pushing down the knob to fire).

If you use X to shoot, you'd likely have to use the Lx/Rx buttons to aim- which could probably put a damper on fast turning.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I've got the complete list at work and most of them have already appeared on the previous Capcom collections. Still, there are a few new ones there.

Look up at my comments about Forgotten Worlds and check those Gamespot screens again.

So does SVC Chaos, that doesn't mean I'm going to play it online, because it's doggy poo. Street Fighter AC would be a much better game to play online.

Yeah, even if this is just a Generations rehash it's worth buying to me.
