JapanExpo 2008 in Paris ~ STG meet ~ July 3, 4, 5, 6
It's only 11 days from now but whatever ~! In case any of you guys happen to be in Paris between the 3rd and 6 of July this year, or are just interested in coming for this event, the Japan Expo is held again and just like last year a bunch of STGs cabs will be set up there for free play.
Japan Expo is basically some kind of festival about all things Japan, held in a huge building in the north of Paris, close to the Charles De Gaulle airport. A train station there is a destination for trains coming from many places in europe such as London, Bruxelles, Amsterdam or Cologne.
Japan Expo itself is a great event for those who particularly enjoy watching anime, listening to japanese music, playing japanese games (not only video games but also Go, Mah Jong, Shogi and whatnot), or practicing japanese martial arts. These are just a few examples, there's quite a lot going on during those 4 days : find out on the website.
We still don't have an accurate planning of which STGs will be available for free play there and how many cabinets or superguns are going to be set up there specifically for STGs, hopefully we will know that in the next couple of days. You can expect most Cave games to be available there though, perhaps even including Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu ! The Neo Arcadia stand that will host those STG cabs will also feature numerous other arcade cabinets for other arcade games including beat'em ups and puzzle games. In any case, the French STG players community is doing a meet there and anyone from abroad is welcome. If you happen to understand French, you can check out the French thread here. A list of attendees, games and number of STG cabs is displayed there.
So if you think you'd like to come, don't hesitate to ask any questions or to just tell us that you'll be coming ~!

This should have been advertised way before it was.
Paris is a cheap (50 Euro return ticket or something like that) and easy destination for me.
Count me in for the 6th!
I always have the mondays off so I'll be fine.
I loved the old thread about last year's gathering. And it made me ready to come this year.
Wanna meet up Promotheus?

Great, I'll add you on the list of attendees for the 6th ! Sorry about not advertising before, we kind of just forgot to do it :[Super Laydock wrote:This should have been advertised way before it was.

You want to meet up on the 6th before entering the JapanExpo ? We're probably going to arrange something with the others so we can wait in line together instead of alone, so you should join us. I'll tell you when I know more about that by pm. If you want to know what to expect gear-wise (which games available / how many cabs), you can check out the french thread or ask here.
I'm not one of the organizers but so far it looks like we'll have something like 3 STG cabs / guns. Maybe more, dunno yet.

Yeah, really. I've been wanting to go to a shmupmeet in Europe for a while now, but finding out one month in advance is cutting it way too close, let alone 2 weeks (especially for people like me who live in the states). Oh well, there's always the London meets...This should have been advertised way before it was.
