Legend of Kage 2 on DS

Post by shinsage »

Screens and Japanese text ahoy:

http://watch.impress.co.jp/game%2Fdocs/ ... 0/kage.htm

personally I never liked the game, but I know this one has its own cult following (for the nes version, at least).

also, for the inevitable post on there already being a legend of kage 2, no, demon sword was not a sequel.

The first one was that one where you jump eightyhundred feet in the sky and scroll for several minutes past one billion trees and then land and do it again? With swords?

Or was that Demon Sword?

Been a while since I've played either, but I think that was Demon Sword.

This is just the first stage, the game changes when you get past the 1st level.

Which I believe many people never managed to do it, either on the arcade, MSX or NES versions. I've seen people who had played the NES version, and when they saw me playing the game on the 2nd level, they went like "WTF? What game is this?"

I've finished the game on both the Arcade and MSX versions, I am a big fan of it.

It's, like the best Ninja game ever. Those complaining about it's difficulty should stop crying and go back to their Ninja Gaiden Blacks, this is the ultimate Ninja Simulator: It allows you to use the awesome power of the ninja to go apeshit insane while also being harder than a pedo at a kindergarten!
Hope they won't screw it up, although this is one of the few 2D Ninja games I'd want to see properly re-imagined in 3D.

This one looks a bit bland. I saw the HP a while back. I'll get it, but I doubt I'll like it.

Legend of Kage and Demon Sword both did this (could they be sequels, or just alike coincidentally) and both are pretty fun. Gotta love te jumping physics, man I wish I could jump that high.

I am pretty sure Demon Sword was the spiritual succesor to Kage. Like Gaijin I also think the sequel looks a little on the vanilla side of things but will probably shell out the cash just the same. I did manage to beat the NES rev of Kage once or twice. :o

I have to admit I don't like Legend of Kage. I have to mash the attack buttons like a maniac just to survive. Because there are infinite swarms of enemies and they can kill you by breathing on you.

Meh. :?

So, has anyone played this yet? GameInformer had a piece on it that said that it plays similar to Ninja-Five-O for the GBA-which would rock! :D

I emulated it for a few seconds months ago. I should try it again with the control setup fixed, but yes, it seemed very bland and not very worthwhile.

Just found this game in the bargain bin, and I'm enjoying it so far - it has the potential to become a little cult title. Quite decent ninja action, faithful enough to the original material, nice illustrations too.

Since I'm lazy today, I'll quote one of my posts from the "What [not shmup] game are you playing now?" thread: :P
Nice game, I like the action going on but S ranking missions is pathetically easy - you only need to rack up a high enough combo on the bosses.

shit, what a weird coincidence this is bumped because i was thinking of it just yesterday.

it's kinda bland but, whatever, i'm hungry for ninja action. still haven't beaten it yet, chalk it up to apathy.
