Public Mushihime-sama Futari v1.5 in SoCal!

Post by Necronopticous »

Today has been an amazing day for me. I visited Arcade Infinity over in Rowland Heights earlier on a tip that I'd received that they'd gotten in Raiden IV. Normally I don't drive down to Arcade Infinity because it's primarily full of fighting games, and the last time I was there the only shmup they had was Shikigami no Shiro III.

So I get there and take a look around; Raiden IV is nowhere to be found, but freaking Mushihime-sama Futari v1.5 is! I couldn't even believe my eyes. This was seriously #1 on my desired games to play.

I am ecstatic, and I had to share it with you all. I played for hours, and only left because I had plans to keep tonight. You can bet that I've cancelled all of my plans tomorrow, though, and I'll be there all day. Good times.

Anyway, if you're in Southern California, you now have the option to play Futari v1.5 without blowing your savings on a PCB, or flying to Japan. Definitely worth a heads-up!

Ask the owner or manager of Arcade Infinity if he or she will be adding more arcade shmup titles. More demand for them can work wonders... ^_~

Can't say that's true for elsewhere in Northern/Central California when it comes to locating Cave PCBs in the wild...

I remember playing IIDX RED at AI back in 03 and hating everyone who lives within a thousand miles of the place.

That feeling never fades. It only intesnsifies.

That said, it's probably good that I'm nowhere near the place because I wouldn't have money for food.

Gotta feed that stomach of yours -- takes priority over playing arcade games any ol' day. Sure, there are some folks who live inside a arcade hangout day in & day out -- how they do it, I don't know... ^_~

In theory yes, but my stomach could stand to feed on itself for a few days. :3

For CStarFlare,

I gotta admit, you've got one tough stomach if it can do that... ^_~

I did actually wait for the owner to come in, and I personally pulled him aside and thanked him for his awesome selection. I plan on dumping a lot of money into that machine in the coming weeks, so I can only hope that it will convince him to make similar selections in the future.

I'd be jealous, but I'm importing the PCB very shortly. Already picked up a Raijin over at SomethingAwful.. it's been a good few months. I've always been a fan of home entertainment so integrating both of them is exciting.

For a very brief period in 2006 we had a Mushihimesama cabinet down here. It's really odd to see these kind of things which are usually considered unobtainable outside of buying a port or going through somewhere like Fujita. Of course it didn't stick around for long, no cabinets that turn profit usually do.

And that's the tale of almost all arcade cabinets.

did the owner mention why or how mushi wound up in their arcade?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I'll have to make sure not to drive over there.

Well, it apparently involved trading Raiden IV, but it does seem pretty unbelievable, regardless. I've always known Arcade Infinity to be the Japanese fighting/rhythm game mecca of SoCal, which is understandable since there is still a lot of Americans who play these kinds of games, and they are the kind of games that are better/only possible on an arcade machine. Danmaku shmups are a genre that is misunderstood and not generally cared for in America, so making the investment of such a recent, intimidating, and expensive game in this genre, whether it was a trade or purchase is pretty bizarre. Made my day, though. The guy is a hero to me right now.

I'd give an arm and a leg just to find the first Mushi in an arcade around here... and you get BOTH Mushi and Futari? You lucky bastard! :D
You better post some hi scores for Futari soon!

I was at Arcade Infinity playing all day, today.

I'll be there again tomorrow from around 5:30 to close. Going to be out of California for a week after tomorrow, though, so I won't be going again after that until the end of next week.

Man, I haven't been there since they had Shikigami no Shiro II...

Arcade Infinity is still pretty far from where I live and I was only able to go there because a friend of mine was willing to drive a bunch of us. But since he's now married (jerk), I'm probably never going to see him again, which means I'm probably never going there again. :?
