I have a Namco Pac-Man 25th Anniversary Unit, built in 2007 with a Wells Garner 19” Monitor.
All my JAMMA PCBs work fine in this unit except 2;
Tenkomori Shooting (Namco system 12) &
Space Invaders ’95 (Taito F3)
on both of the PCBs, I get sound and a completely black screen…
I tested both of these PCBs in another cabinet at a local shop, they work fine…
I have tried adjusting the voltage on the +5 from 5.05 – 5.5, didn’t solve anything…
Any ideas out there? This one has really got me frustrated!
Black Screen Video Problem, PLEASE HELP!!!

Well it seems the wells garner monitor was picky about the signal from some of the PCBs. I put in a Samsung Monitor and now all my boards work fine... Odd how the monitor would like one board but not another... The wells garner had a digital OSD and other advanced features the Samsung is pretty vanilla but seems to be working like champ. I usually shy away from Korean products but has anyone else had any experience with the Samsung standard monitors?

I'm not surprised. Analog control monitors (like Nanao) are more capable of handling different frequency/refresh rates than a digital monitors. For example, the Kortek (used by Betson and Happ) and NeoTec digital tri-sync monitors all have problems syncing with Cave SH2 boards, as well as a few other odd PCBs. The NeoTec won't even sync with a NeoGeo motherboard!
