Maryland Shmupmeet

Post by Kiken »

Ok, guys, I'm going to hold a get-together at my place on June 14th. I'm in Gaithersburg, MD... so anyone in the general DC Metro Area shouldn't have much trouble getting to my place.

I've got 2 SD sets (one yoko, one tate), and plenty of consoles (as well as a SuperGun and the following PCBs: ESPGaluda 2 and Pink Sweets). Also, I have the DC hooked up to a VGA monitor and numerous doujin sitting on my PC.

I figure that 2 pm should be a decent starting time. PM me for directions (I'm about 5 minutes away from Lake Forest Mall). If the date doesn't work for many of you who are interested, we'll see about moving it forward or backward a week.

That would be fun, I've wanted to at least try Pink Sweets at some point. I could possibly bring Ketsui if anyone cares. I'll have to see about the date though.

Maybe this will motivate me to get my place in reasonable shape and have some meets here too. (3 cabs!)

I can't think of anything going on that would conflict with this, so I'll likely make it. I have some PCBs I can bring too, I'll compile a list a a day or so.

Battle Garegga (Saturn)
Gunbird 2 (DC)

Do you use sticks with your supergun or are you one of those weird pad people?

*laughs*

My SG accepts Neo-Geo controllers. I personally prefer to use the classic sticks. I have several different joysticks for my Saturn, PS1/2 and DC as well.

I can do the 7th. I think I have some dumb work migration at 8am that day, but it should be done well before 2pm.

I've got nothing going on the next two Saturdays so either one works for me.

Guess I don't need to bring any PCBs anyway. My collection is small and sad still.

I had a fun time, although I've been so busy since then I haven't had a chance to try and duplicate the Ketsui coin inserting bug. Is there any easy way to tell what version of the game I have?

We totally should have recorded that! ;) Like I said.. it might actually be something with my Super-gun... then again... we never did try out another controller whilst playing that game, did we?

Put the board on freeplay and hit start during the demo. If it acts weird and eventually crashes you have the 'old' version. My board is the updated rom.

All you have to do is look at the MASTER VER string on the bootup screen. If there's a period in the string, you have the fixed ROM. If there's no period, you have the old, buggy rom.

Blame Minzoku... she had her camera out but only took snapshots of her gerbils.

Ok, guys.. everyone back over tomorrow evening for a quick photoshoot. Action poses all around with Gwyrgyn shaking fist and swearing at Ageha.

For the record though, here's what was played during the shmeet:
ESPGaluda II (PCB)
Pink Sweets: Ibara Sore Kara (PCB)
Ketsui: Kizuna Jigokutachi (PCB)
Battle Garegga (Saturn)
Shippu Mahou Daisakusen (Saturn)
Ibara (PS2)
Summer Carnival 92' Recca (Famicom)
Kamui (PC)
Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princess (PS2)
Soukyuugurentai: Oubushutsugeki (PS1)
