MAME shmups running too fast

Post by Phil12 »

I don't know what the deal is. I was playing Gigawing on a laptop and it was running at a great normal speed. Then in my next period class, I plugged it into a normal PC and it runs at like 7x the speed it should. Anyone else have this problem? It's only with shmup games.

Hit F11, see what it sez.

If it's over 100% then hit F10.

Odd problem, hope it works out for ya.

Oh, check your config setting too - if you've been mapping lots of buttons just for shmups, I suppose somehow you could have a conflict...

Haha. Yep. You were right on the money. It was running at 400%. I hit F10 now everythings good. Thanks a lot. :)

Wish I'd known about this fix sooner myself....

I've had this problem happen on numerous occaisions. Usually when Im trying to play one of the Strikers games.

It's VERY annoying.

I'll try this fix myself next time it does this.

To be more specific, make sure "throttle" is on. You can use F10 or check in the Game Options in the GUI.

In Mame32/UI, go to Options, then the Default Game Settings menu and the throttle option is under the Display tab, if I remember correctly.

As for commandline mame, it's probably "mame gamename -throttle" without quotes.

I dont think it's the game. A lot of them still don't work, like Daytona USA and Soul Calibur.....

Last I knew, all three RF games were running well in the newest MAME / MAME32 revisions (RF1 and RF Jet work well for me). This thread addressed bad sound in Raiden Fighters 2, at least.
