Ninja Gaiden 2

Post by DBH87 »

Man This game is absolutely fantastic, fair enough the camera is a bit dodgy but the amount of moves available for each weapon is incredible.
The Ultimate Techniques look amazing too. Im currently on the 2nd Chapter and I have killed about 400 enemies already, I think I only managed 1000 or something for th whole of Ninja Gaiden Black.

Great game, anyone else played it??

Um, the game was released in the states first...?

That's.. uh... DAMNIT :|

I downloaded the demo. It was very impressive! I didn't care much for the cutscenes, but the battles were fantastic. I've never played Ninja Gaiden before, so the controls felt.. a little stiff, to be honest. Mostly when moving left/right, but I guess I'm just used to DMC4 and the way it handles.

The demo felt quite easy, though. I've already spent a good 2 hours with it, and my only gripe is that the cutscenes can't be skipped initially. Only after you've run through the demo once do they become skippable, which is a bit of a nuisance.

Anyway, like I was saying.. easy. I was messing up quite a bit on my first try, but still didn't end up dying. Is "acolyte" the Normal mode in this game?

I've already preordered this. Chopping enemies up surrounded by sakura blossoms is pretty fucking sweet! The weapons are great too. I think I prefer the morning star over the rest of them at the moment, since it does the most hits, and I'm a sucker for combos.

Definitely not out yet. The OP must be either commenting on the demo, or is press with an early review copy.

From my understanding, Acolyte is the easy mode. I'm kinda disappointed that Itagaki said the game is a bit easier than the first, but I'm still stoked for it.

I think the option to make it easier or harder is important. The last one was too hard for some poeple and would scare people off real quick

I too feel this is important. Some of us have extremely poor hand-eye coordination and don't appreciate being called "ninja dogs."

Heh, I didn't even have that option.

Still got through the game (actually, up to the near-end "hey ur in a field of flowers now, PSO-style" which is where I stopped, sorta like Metroid Prime, dunno why).

but that's what you are if you play it on ninja dog. if you don't want to be a ninja dog then play on normal. otherwise just enjoy playing the game at a difficulty you can manage, that just so happens to be ninja dog.

i am a master ninja however.... and it was earned.

it honestly didn't seem that hard to beat on normal to me... especially with the 10 partial heal potions, 5 total heal potions, and then all the ninja magic restore potions on top of it. we are talking you total life bar x 10 at least then around 10 or more ninja magics depending on you magic level at the time. plus the normal enemies do a good job of dropping purple life essence if you can hang in there.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I will give you a bit of Information. There is 2 modes of diffculty at the start, acolyte is the easiest one to choose.

Ultimate techniques can be broken by shurikens, people commented that on the demo they werent easily broken but I can confirm they are easily broken. The karma system is still there and you now get points for Ultimate Techniques and the all new Obliteration techniques.

UTs 5000 karma a piece
Obliteration 3000 karma a piece

All weapons are upgradeable so far (dragon sword, lunar, falcons talons) and the move list is incredible, I love games where there are massive combos to pull off.

Im talking about the real game, Im currently on chapter 5. So far I have 4 weapons which are all brilliant and the chapters are quite long to be honest, plenty of enemies to kill (at least 175 per chapter). The only downside I can think of at the moment is the fact that you face a hell of alot of the same enemy based on which chapter you are on, but the sheer quantity of moves and obliteration techniques makes it so you are never bored of fighting them. The number of available combos for the dragon sword and falcons talons are very impressive and a brand new weapon on chapter 5 called kuri gami or something looks fantastic in motion.

Also lots of people complain about the camera, just hold right trigger eventually it will be like second nature

Have you got the game strider??

man this has been a problem since the first ninja gaiden game. You would think that Tecmo would have corrected this by now. Tiny little annoyance considering the overall quality of the game though but still sloppy stuff.

You will not be dissapointed I assure you, prepare to get sore hands. There is a nice new addition called the tests of Valor dotted thoughout the game, basically like the fiend realm levels from Black. Only this time they are a lot more frantic and larger.

Regarding the demo. Reportedly it'll be released on the 6th, 3 days after the release of the actual game.

Itagaki leaves Team Ninja, sues Tecmo.

"Ninja Gaiden 2, which will launch on the 3rd of June will be the last Ninja Gaiden I will create. I will also never be able to make Dead or Alive 5."

Damn, leaving right after NG2. Sounds like he had it rough.

Update, Itagaki sets up a camera to find out who's been stealing his money instead of going into all the rooms

Itagaki delivers, always.

Unfortunately it seems he's delivering unintentional comedy more than games for the foreseeable future now...

I'm on Chapter 8 or 9 now... game is f'ing fantastic. The claws, the scythe, and the twin blades are just amazingly awesome to use.

And the combat is so much better than it was in the original.

I agree. The only thing I don't like so far is the way the camera jumps around when you pull an obliteration technique. It's easy to lose track of where your enemies are when you're in the middle of a swarm. Other than that, it's everything I could have asked for... unless the Dabilahro is missing, of course.
