Sega Megadrive 6 button pad quality...

I'd like to get two Megadrive 6B pads, but all I'm seeing are new "genuine" pads on ebay for real cheap, which either have an autofire switch in the center, or ones that look similar to the original 6 button pads but not quite the same (a bit chunkier perhaps).. I can just imagine them being lighter/cheap feeling, made from crappy plastic, and having bad feeling buttons and d-pads.

Does anyone have experience with these newer generic pads, how do they feel compared to the original 6 button pads?

Those are the Majesco Genesis 3 pads. They are cheaply made and not nearly as good as the "real" 6-button Genesis pads.

Finding used pads should be easy enough if you're willing to look around a bit.

Finding used 6-button pads should be dead easy without even having to look very hard. I've bought 6-8 of them and a couple of Saturn pads over the years.

Personally, I don't mind the 6-button turbo pads. I actually prefer the face buttons on the turbo version, they are very firm and tactile, and I think the D-pad is fine, though not as good as the regular 6-button. I do have a problem with the turbo D-pad getting stuck sometimes though.

The Majesco pad is a lot looser and IMO, the d-pad feels awful compared to the 6-button Arcade Pad. Go with the real deal.

cool, thanks for the info, I ended up getting two of the original US 6 button pads
