Taito F3 mobo region mods?

Post by maxlords »

Hey all,

Wanted to know if anyone knows how to region mod a Taito F3 mobo. I've recently bought Arkanoid Returns for the F3 (Jp cart). I'm planning on getting Gekiridan, EAR, and a few others eventually. However, I just got a steal of a deal on an F3 mobo on eBay....but it's a US board, not a Jp board. The seller had a pic of a US board, but in his comments said it was a Jp board and he'd put the wrong picture up. However when it showed up it was US with a big America sticker in the center ;) Go figure.

So I figured I'd mod it. However, all I can find on the process is that you "need to remove a couple of plastic tabs" to do it. Anyone know specifically what I need to do? A pic of what I need to remove would be even better!

Thanks!

here ya go man, this is what I followed when I did mine.....

kind of a pain in the ass to be honest but not hard by any means.

not much else to add to that, just melt the tabs away and you're good to go.
I found it easiest to use a flat wedge solder tip and kind of shave the tabs down in between the pins and use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the little pieces out while they are still warm and pliable.

Hope that helps.
