Raiden Fighters I & II questions

Post by Ozymandiaz1260 »

How do you unlock the extra ships? Is it only a time release, or is there some magical code to get it all at once? If I don't have any of the ships unlocked and my boards have been used in arcades before, does that mean that my battery is probably dead? Are they supposed to save high scores, because mine don't? Does everything get reset when you change cartridges on a motherboard? Mostly, I just want to know what I have to do to get the extra ships.

You will lose the game settings + saved high scores if you remove the said SP1 cart...best to leave it be. Yes, the back-up battery does save high scores & game settings + Real Time Clock/Calendar settings...

Eventually, the back-up battery will die, get it replaced and you're good to go for another few years in the high score/game save settings department...

Thanks PCEFX. I'm glad to hear that high score saving is possible. Do you (or anyone else) know anything about secret ships, like how long it takes to unlock them, or if there's a code to override it? I've gotten fairly good at timing the random ship select to get the MK-II, but it doesn't always work. Also, the battery is actually glued onto the contacts on the board... is there a solvent I could use to get the glue off without damaging anything? I have both the large old type motherboard as well as the newer, smaller one. Are cartridges compatible with both of those? I've been using the newer one for RF/RFII, and the two older ones have Viper Phase 1 and Battle Balls, but if I could have both RF carts hooked up all the time I would much rather lose setting on VP1 and BB instead of the way I'm doing it now.
