Question about the differences in Raiden DX PCBs
I'm trying to trade a Raiden DX PCB with someone here on the forums, but he has questions about the differences of the PCBs the game was released on, especially about the sound quality of the newer board, which is the one that I have. I tried looking on a few arcade sites but didn't really come up with anything. How many different PCBs were released? Do the ones with a battery save high scores? How would you say the sound quality compares between them? Anything else you might know about the differences in the PCBs would be helpful too. Thanks

The sound on the re-release is incredibly low quality/sample rate (that's what makes is sound so bassy), plus it isn't the whole songs. It's short loops, same loop for every level I think.
Also, the video seemed a little weak- the contrast would increase as the images changed (a big explosion would wash the rest out a bit for a second).

The 411 on the official re-released Raiden DX PCB...
This newer Raiden DX PCB revision is better known as Raiden DX - New Version that came out in 1996...
It's best to stick with the original PCB release of Raiden DX if you want the better sound quality overall.
Seibu Kaihatsu also released a Raiden II - New Version PCB (also came out in 1996) but for Raiden II PCB purists, they tend to go with just the original 1993 version of the same name...

Re: Question about the differences in Raiden DX PCBs
I've been looking at my Raiden DX board recently, and noted the AA sized lithium battery attached - has anyone decided whether this should save high scores?Ozymandiaz1260 wrote:Do the ones with a battery save high scores?
Thanks,

Nope the battery is not for highscores.Halloween Jack wrote:I've been looking at my Raiden DX board recently, and noted the AA sized lithium battery attached - has anyone decided whether this should save high scores?Ozymandiaz1260 wrote:Do the ones with a battery save high scores?
