strikers 1945 saturn

Post by w-ring »

On the Japanese version of Strikers 1945 on the saturn, can you save your hiscores? If so, how?

Cheers

It should automatically save to your memory, no? It's been a while since I've played my Strikers on Saturn, but I'm pretty sure I remember transferring the save over from my card whenever I did play it.

Your battery may be dead and not saving scores.

Yes.

If they aren't being saved, your 5 year battery life is up and you'll have to buy another. Check Google for the exact type of battery but they're readily available and very cheap (they're the tiny pill shaped ones used for watches)

The Strikers 1945 high score should be saved to the memory without any problem

Sega Saturn uses CR2032 battery. I usually change it every 6 to 12 months.
If you want to save your games, you are better off buying a back-up memory cartridge in the long run.

Isn't that a bit excessive to change the CR-2032 battery that often on the Saturn console?

I've only had to change the CR-2032 "back-up" battery on my Neo-Geo Pocket Color handheld once in the six years that the factory one was last installed back in April of 2000.

You might recall that the Sega Titan ST-V mobo uses the same CR-2032 coin-type battery for the RTC and saving of high scores (assuming that the said ST-V game cart is left in place and not removed).

They can be a bit fickle. The one I have in now has lasted for three years at least, but prior to that I had one that lasted only a year, if that.

Still, nothing eats those CR-2032s faster than the Dreamcast VMUs... not that there's any reason to put batteries in them, except to silence that annoying beep.

Yes, DC VMUs are notorious for eating up those CR-2032 batteries by the mouthful... ^_~

Why didn't Sega use a small rechargable Ni-Cad or Li-Ion type of battery for it's VMUs and have it charged up when powered up through the VMU slot? Sure, it would've added more expense but worth it in the long run...

I figured out what my problem was in the end. I recently got a memory card, and copied my strikers save onto it, and deleted it from my system memory, and it seems that Strikers 1945 (and Gunbird also) only read a save file if it is on the system memory, and not if it is on a memory card.

My new problem is, I can't seem to get Battle Garegga to save at all, on either memories. Both are fully working. If I get to the highscore table, it enters my name onto the 'edit' score table, even though I have all settings on default (except I have tate mode and easy menu's switched on), but every time I reset, even though there is a save on my system for Garegga, the highscores are always blank.

Any ideas? Cheers

Actually, very few games will interact directly with the memory-card. The vast majority only save to the system memory.

As for BG's high-score saves... do you have enough open memory left in the Saturn to save a file (it requires 84 blocks, IIRC)?

The lifespan of CR-2032 on my Saturn varies (usually about 1 year), so I change it every year (6 months is a bit extreme). Besides CR2032 is very cheap anyways as I get them in bulk.

Yes, the ST-V mobo uses the same CR-2032 and I don't have to change it much.

Turning on the easy menu mode in BG automatically puts the game settings to edit mode. It did this to me too, it seems you have to turn off the easy menu in order to get the proper high score table.
