I had to crack and get Burnout 3. Only other EA title I have is... uhh... The Immortal for the NES?Strychnine wrote:EA is evil, but what is more evil is that the company is largely a reflection of today's society. Obviously someone is buying that shit.
Is it you?

I agree. I fucking hate EA. Sure, they published great shooters like Souky and BG in Japan, and they made the Strike series, but those are the only things you can even give 'em any credit for. It's not just about the dogshit they keep pumping out year after year with Madden; just read about what they've been doing. Shit like misleading investors and dodging labor laws? Come on! It's ridiculous! If their shopping spree continues, it won't be long before they become the Wal-Mart of the American game industry. And if that happens, you can bet that the market will be flooded with shit.
To answer the question, no, I don't buy any of their shit. Nothing. I don't care; EA can fucking burn.

I like NBA Street and some older EA games. I actually like Madden, though I think EA has made more than enough games for that series. What's the point in getting the newest one when you can get some of the Genesis versions for pocket change? SSX Tricky and 3 sound interesting and I'm planning to get them. I also liked what I have played of Lotus II and the Strike games.
I wouldn't be suprised if they made their own console....
For some reason I have this image of a giant football-shaped Death Star with the EA logo on it looming over some doomed videogame develeopers. Would be pretty funny if somebody actually drew such an image.

The market is already flooded with shit. It has been since, well, ever. Remember the days of the great videogame crash? ET and Pac Man for the Atari2600, anyone?BAD wrote:If their shopping spree continues, it won't be long before they become the Wal-Mart of the American game industry. EA need to die a thousand deaths, each one a thousand time more painful and drawn out than before.

It's the typical business model that many profitable companies employ. Interesting though that Capcom got punished for doing the same thing several years ago with the Street Fighter franchise. I guess this just goes to show that you never really know how the market will respond.BAD wrote:"EA is the essence of all that is wrong with the gaming industry today."

EA destroyed Origin, Westwood, and Bullfrog. Until then, I loved them...but after that I decided that EA could eat a fat bag of poopy.
They killed Crusader No Mercy, god damnit.
They canabalized some damn good games to dump more money into the shitty Sims Online game (a game which is awesome single player and DOESN'T WORK AT ALL IN A MMO ENVIORONMENT). Earth and Beyond? Gone. Motor City Online? Gone. Ultima Online 2? It WAS in development...
Remember Westwood? They invented the RTS game as we know it today. Made a little known game called Dune 2 and a little series called Command & Conquer. They made one of the finest adventure games ever made (Blade Runner). Westwood was responsible for the Diablo clone that was actually superior in pretty much every way (Nox). They got assimilated by EA, disolved, absorbed some people into EA LA, and then laid off the rest. Thank god a bunch of those guys formed Petroglyph Games....
Ugh. Someone hand me a bottle of whiskey or something. I need to make myself forget about how much I've been getting fucked in the ass for the last decade by EA. Talking about this shit is also reminding me of how Eidos fucked over Looking Glass AND Ion Storm...

All of the people that made the games that made Rare famous had long left, though. Microsoft got the company name and the game names, but they didn't get the talent.FatCobra wrote:Look what happened to Rare. They got bought out by Microsoft and what is their first game with them? Grabbed By the Ghoulies.
Then again, the "talent" went on to make the TimeSplitters games, which imo suck. *shrug*
And look what they released before MS got them: Starfox Adventures.FatCobra wrote:Look what happened to Rare. They got bought out by Microsoft and what is their first game with them? Grabbed By the Ghoulies.
Rare was on a downhill slide LONG before MS got them. I don't see any major change, actually.
EA does suck for killing Origin, though.
MS should buy EA. And then, after the purchase is complete, they will neutralize each other like matter-antimatter and completely disappear out of existence.
And then man will look upon his brother with mercy, and all things shall give with all their heart. And the lion and the lamb shall lie together side by side, and a child will shepherd them.

So basically everyone will run out and buy a Dreamcast?
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!!
But what if the worse thing happened? They became a huge juggernaut of a coporation called MicroElectronicArtsSoft and consumed all in their path. That would be bad.....Specineff wrote:MS should buy EA. And then, after the purchase is complete, they will neutralize each other like matter-antimatter and completely disappear out of existence.
You know, someone needs to make a shmup where you bomb the HQ of EA and MS. It'd be pretty funny.
