Post by tommyb »

Just thought I'd share my love for this game, it's so frantic

Any other games like this out there?

Extremely frantic, I love it. Nice break from the typical "weave your way through this pattern" shmups, especially since it's a Cave game.

I just wish there was more true funky disco style music in this game. I do love the disco.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

More bass and rythm guitar and less solo guitar would be nice and they should have got Barry White to do the voiceovers.

Yeah I usually come up for the Michigan shmup meets.

Raiden Fighters Jet is a pretty hectic game, too. It's different from Feveron, and not as crazy, but it's pretty fast.

Cool, I'll check it out, thanks.

Ever go to Maxwell's in Toledo? I used to be quite a regular in there. I used to go to concerts at Vamp's, too, and I still shop for vinyl albums at Romalama.

I went there a couple times for group projects back in college, but's that's about it.
Vamp's
I saw a couple shows there back when it was the Masonic Temple, but I haven't been there since they changed the name to Vamps.
Romalama
I used to live within walking distance of that place, but I only went there once or twice.

This is the only game I care about. I'm at the later half of Stage 4 right now; on a good run I think I can make it to Stage 5 with more liberal bombing.

Hey hey; it'd be cool if anyone knows where I can see the True Final Boss; couldn't find any screens from my searches... and it's going to be some years until I'll be able to make it to the thing...

Love it! It's so fluid...constantly shooting, sweeping, dodging, never stops and the bosses rule.
Cave are masters of pacing in shooters.
There are a lot of really cool shooters that are ruined by the pace.

I need to get a million times better at shmups to ever beat this. Best so far is level 3 boss.

I seriously love Dangan. I'm still chuffed about picking up a PCB for about $40 a few years back on Yahoo auctions. Great game, especially fun in two player mode as you try to out-do each other in collecting the little disco men. And that soundtrack is terrific.

To see the real final boss, you have to finish the game without dying. There are no other requirements. For the fight you are invincible unless you bomb, and the end bonuses are double for finishing the game with the real final boss, and I think you get a second discoman bonus from it too. Been a long time...

Can't find a picture, sorry

Not sure what you mean. After you clear the game without dying, you are granted invindibility for the battle with the true last boss. If you bomb it, then you lose the invinvibility. Someone saved the guide I wrote, rather crappy as it is mainly positioning, that I wrote a few years back. It is in the strategy section if you want to take a look.

One thing that throws me off is how huge the score display is - I've tried runs as player two (prettier ship and bullets) but that huge box obscuring so much of the screen I'm used to seeing just freaks me out.

I think they are, except for some Japanese -> English text.

Play long enough, and you might start to feel it's just about the right speed, and all the other ships are too sloooooooow.

Is there a spiritual sequel to this game? Even if its a fan made game. I would love to play something else more like this.
