Help with some simple HRAP-3 mods?

Post by Necronopticous »

I just received my Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 stick via UPS yesterday, and I'm loving it, but these Hori buttons are just not cutting it. I thought I'd be able to live with them, but they feel like very cheap toy buttons or something, and they don't have a very defined "pushed" feeling, so it distracts me when I'm playing.

That said, I've been looking around Lizard Lick for some Seimitsus that I can throw in. Before I make any purchases, though, I want to make sure I'm getting the right thing, because I have never done any sort of modding whatsoever...

I assume I that I'm looking for the 30mm buttons, is this right? Are the slightly smaller Select and Start buttons the 24mm ones? Is there any difference in the varieties beside the color? And finally...these will fit my HRAP-3 correctly as is, right?

As far as the actual stick goes, the stock Sanwa feels pretty nice. My only criticism is that it seems to have a square base, which isn't too bothersome, but I'm wondering if I went ahead and grabbed a Seimitsu stick to match the new buttons, could I get a cleaner feel when making circular motions? In any case, what is the difference between the Seimitsu varieties listed? Which one am I looking for?

Is it very easy to throw these new parts in? I'm not very skilled at these sorts of things.

Thanks!

Either Sanwa or Seimitsu 30mm or 24mm buttons will be a drop in mod.

The HRAP3 does not accomodate most Seimitsu sticks though because the mounting area is for Sanwa JLF. Some other HRAPs has a mounting area that would accomodate a Seimitsu LS-32, but unfortunately the HRAP3 is not one of them. You could drop in lesser known Seimitsus like I believe the LS-56 or LS-33? Don't quote me on that because I don't remember off the top of my head.

If the square base bothers you, switching to Seimitsu won't really change anything. They all have square restrictors. You can buy an octagon restrictor for your JLF. It is the GT-Y. That may or may not please you.

I plan on getting the octagon restrictor, thank you, that's just what I need.

Unfortunately, Lizard Lick doesn't seem to be vending Seimitsu PS-14-G pushbuttons, which are really the buttons that I want. Does anyone else know of a good US retailer of Japanese pushbuttons that has PS-14-Gs in stock?
