2D fighting is not dead, unlike disco...it survives:

Blaze Blue

Obviously a Guilty Gear Joint, but I don't care, as long as someone is supporting the genre. Sure is sexy looking though. Here are some hi-rez screens:

Suffers from lack of animation. I'll wait for Blaze Blue ZZ: Forever Plus for a more streamlined and animated version.

Be careful. This is what people said about shooting games, and now we have Triangle Service.

BlazBlue looks pretty good so far, but i'm not a huge fan of Arc (although Hokuto no Ken rocks!). Was it my imagination, or did I read this was going to be released as a downloadable game via PSN?

He's referring to sprites that are broken down from polygons. Ironically, all of Cave's sprites are done this way. It's not a question of whether doing it is bad or good, it is (as one would expect) a question of time and quality.

Timecop for the SNES uses digitized graphics, and it's a platformer. That sucks. Big time.

Also, Shinobi Legions for the Saturn sucks balls, compared to Revenge and III.

EDIT: Now I see what you were trying to mean. Guess that makes all other sprites analogue.

Street Fighter: RBOF wasn't horrible, but it looked it and there's no reason to play when there's ST.

I liked some of the character designs in Guilty Gear I wouldn't call it generic animu because the artists actually have an understanding of human anatomy. It's not like Capcom's design team is pumping out insanely cool characters anymore either.

I think we need to make a SHMUPS.com fighter! Let's all take pictures of ourselves in various poses and cobble together a fighting game.
