It's a superplay for the arcade version, which is a little annoying IMO. I think a remixed OST would be far more desireable. Unless the superplay is REALLY FUCKING GOOD.moozooh wrote:Btw, does the superplay DVD come for the DS version? As in, the superplay is performed on a DS? I thought it was supposed to be a superplay for the arcade version.

Where did you read that? There are also level screenshots:Etrian wrote:I KNEW it was going to be Boss Rush-only.

AS EOJ pointed out, there will be at least ONE level in the game, and I find it unlikely that he will stop there. I think we only saw boss fights so far because it might be the first thing Mihara worked on, and the bossfights are also the most memorable part of Ketsui. (I´ll take it either way, though.)
Which is a very wise step. I traded my shit-pad DS Lite model in and the next DSL I bought had a nice one that does diagonals. It still isn´t as nice as the GBA Micro pad despite being a bit bigger. But then again the DS emulation is making progress rapidly so people that prefer sticks and big screens might be able to go that routeThe maker of the game completely acknowledges the limitations of the ds pad, and says that he's modified the speed of the bullets to cope with the rather pathetic lever set.
Despite the many obvious limitations the only things I look forward in gaming now is the next DS Castlevania and this game.

I don´t think those two games will compete a lot, though, given that Ketsui DS is going to be a lot different than the PCB one, with the added difficulty modes; and the multiplayer is something completely unique, which might add a new spark to the genre. Summing that up and adding that the DS is so widespread in Japan, Ketsui DS could turn out to be more popular than the barebones 360 port. Mihara seems to be turning this into a pretty different game, which explains the "long" wait (I didn´t expect an earlier release date, honestly).Ceph wrote:So this is coming out after the 360 port... who would have guessed.Kiken wrote:Mihara certainly is taking his sweet time in releasing this....hirounder wrote:Surprise, small article on Ketsui Death Label DS in this weeks Famitsu appeared...10/23 (?!) being a release date.
Oh, and I wonder what impact Ketsui DS will have. Looking at the seemingly not-so-arcade-perfect mobile phone ports, Cave is willing to port their games as long as they cash big money, and if a Cave game on the DS proves to be popular it *might* trigger some other shmups to appear on it, Cave or otherwise.

No it doesn't. It says 'DS', and we know there will be at least one 'level' in it (level 5, sans the tate ana section). Also, the video released last year showed at least sections of level 3. No one really knows the precise format Ketsui DS will take, but the 'Death Label' moniker was shed like 6 months ago.Etrian wrote:Um... it says Death Label, you know.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:I'm still wondering if there will be levels. Otherwise, no buy.

In the Famitsu article this past week, the game's title is listed as "Ketsui Death Label". So it's not "Ketsui DS".MX7 wrote:No it doesn't. aren't we overestimating the importance of ketsui (/shmups) by thinking it will be first place / sold out in a day at play-asia?
even the ESPgaluda II OST which PA thought to be a very fast selling item of which they had limited stock wasn't sold out instantly. it was sold out within a week or maybe two but certainly not instantly. and this was a very limited stock with no restocking option. now i realize that an ost is not the same as dsgame but still...
anyway, i'm happy to hear that the game is still coming...all the silence up till recently had me thinking it might have been abandoned... looking forward to it.

warning: a huge warning sign is approaching fast!

I'd be interested to see how it sells. Personally, I can see it selling (out?) fast on PA, especially if some hype is built up around it outside this forum. Remember, there's still five months to go! Overall I have no idea how well it'll do. It's a niche title, and the bundled superplay confirms its niche audience, but it's still a DS game.
