Metal slug:
- normal difficulty: 5 lives with continues
- hard difficulty: 15 lives , no continues

WTF !? You`can't adjust the number of lives ?. It scales up/down automatically when you adjust difficulty. And the looonnnng wait for every save is ridiculous; A HUGE disapointment.

I also ordered a copy (since it is 'seriously cheap' over at play asia). I'm really surprised no one here is as apeshit about getting samurai shodown as I am. I mean, I know it will come out in a SS collection soon enough, but after years and years of waiting I just want to play the damn game again.

Where's the love?

Are you mad? SS came out for about every system, even the Sega Game Gear!

I've noticed that it's a little inconsistent about unlocking the medals. My girlfriend and I beat Top Hunter and Metal Slug on normal last night and didn't get jack for it. Lame.

Maybe you have to 1CC it? Unless you did, in which case appologies.

Dude, those ports are not even close to the arcade. Only the 3do port was really close. I'm not going to buy a 3do, that's fucking crazy!

I got the PSP version. I basically bought this collection only to play Last Resort, Shock Troopers, and Magician Lord. So far I've only played Last Resort and Shock Troopers and already it was !TOTALLY! worth my money. Fantastic games. Last Resort is definitely one of the better hori-memorizers that I've played.

I'm loving Metal Slug and Last Resort on this collection. And so far, they're the only enjoyable games to me. Everything else has gameplay issues.

I'm suprised with Last Resort. It's turning out to be a really good shmup. Hopefully we'll see more NG shmups on volume 2.

Surprised? I thought everybody has been saying it's an excellent shooter.

I know. That's what I meant. I'm suprised at how good it is. My first time playing it and all.

I picked this up today mainly as a gesture of support for this sort of thing. I can already play all these games elsewise.

I picked this up today because I had a store credit note burning a hole in my pocket and I wanted Neo Turf Masters.

Not being able to play on arcade defaults is a big downer, the difficulty levels they give you are actually pretty stupid. You can't play on level 4 at all and the harder skill levels actually give you more lives in some cases, "Hard" difficulty for Metal Slug is level 5 but it gives you 10 lives.

The infinite credits in Neo Turfmasters is irritating too. Yes, I would like to just sit back and play the game through but having the option of trying to beat it on a single credit too would have been great.

They gave us PALers 60hz this time at least but Ignition always have to get something wrong, be it the 50hz and lag in the PS2 Metal Slug Anthology, the annoying bugs in KOF XI or the flat out broken early copies of Card Fighters DS.

So this one is a real mixed bag for me, on the one hand I love being able to play Baseball Stars 2 and Neo Turfmasters on my TV but on the other hand some really questionable choices were made when this pack was put together. Still glad I got it (and got it cheap too) but at the same time kind of annoyed with it.

I got this collection too, and it's terrible. The settings are not the arcade defaults, the load times are crazy, and the sound is screwed up in Last Resort (intro-music still playing during startup sequence, etc). At least there's a new arranged soundtrack for Last Resort, which is interesting although it's not better than the NGCD sound, imo.
