HeWhoGoverns wrote:Gamestop was not taking preorders on Shiki 3 to begin with. It was not in our preorder system. When I inquired to the higher-ups, they said it was only going to be sent to select stores. As for shipments, when a game releases, it ships on that day. So we get it on the next day. Only big releases (like Halo 3 and GTA IV) are in stores on the release date. So if your Gamestop was one of the stores selected to receive it, they will have it tomorrow.
Thanks for the 411 on that...and will that same game release date situation apply to the upcoming PS3 game of Metal Gear Solid 4 as well?

It was mentioned on G4TV back in April 2008, that Gamestop was going to be the exclusive U.S. video game retailer to sell the MGS-4 LE set on day one...June 12th, 2008.

I was told that it is very hard to get the USA version MGS-4 LE bundled package set and the free perks such as the giveaway MGS-4 artbook and PS3 MGS-4 "Data Disc" promotional items just for pre-ordering it are in extremely short supply... ^_~

Anyways, back to the topic of USA Wii release of Castle Shikigami 3 on hand... ^_~

!!!

That would explain the weird response I got when I asked about its release date.

Makes me wonder whether either of the stores in my local mall are among the chosen few...

On another note, Aksys has (finally) opened the official US Shiki III website. What in the world took them so long?

Best to call as many local Gamestops around tomorrow and see if they got their Wii Castle Shikigami 3 shipment in or not. And if so, run, don't walk there to scoop it up, pronto! There are five different Gamestop store locations in my local area to find out about whether or not they will be getting theirs in... ^_~

I have a feeling that it's gonna be extremely slim pickings this time around...oh well, wish me luck. It would seem that one would have better luck scoring a copy of CS-3 than it is to win the State Lottery, hmmm? We'll see about that... ^_~

The head honchos at Gamestop corporate office should've placed a reservation spot for it -- the eventual mess of hard-core American shmup fans scrambling like mad trying to find the ever elusive CS-3 is the end result. What were they thinking of pulling off a stupid stunt like that? At the very least, it is finally going to be out tomorrow... ^_~

Just to answer some questions, Gamestop will have MGS4 on the day it comes out. All stores should get shipments a week before it releases so we can sell it on the street date. I didn't hear about the MGS Saga DVDs being lown in quantity-my store got plenty to cover our reserves and then some, although we are almost out of them now. The art-book is not a pre-order bonus, it comes with the LE, and every LE should have one. if you put a preorder on the limited edition, you should be fine.

As far as Shiki 3, yes, it esentially comes down to corporate thinking it wans't going to be a big enough title. Which confuses me because there is some pretty unpopular stuff in our pre-order list. All I know is that if one of the stores in my area didn't get a copy, I am going on a rampage.

Gamestop's corporate office sure has fickle tastes as to what will sell and what won't sell -- just don't alienate the American shmup fan though and ensure that adequate copies are ordered & distributed chain-wise on day one of release...

An independent owned video game store will cater to what the customer wants... ^_~

Has anybody been able to track this down on street level? It seems nobody in retail will stock this game.

Amazon still says it's shipping tomorrow, with my delivery date of 05/20 with 2-day shipping.

lol so far it looks like no GS in the state of new york has copies

I'll have to check on the weekend to see if that "No new products found within 100 miles of this ZIP code." is truly justified or not.

What's unfortunate is how this will hurt the already low sales this game would have had on its own. I know anyone who knew they wanted it will just order it...but there aren't that many of us, and I imagine the low price, the nice cover, and the previous success of Geometry Wars would have translated into more than a few impulse buys.

I wonder if Aksys had planned on using the Wii sales to see if a 360 release would be worth the cost, too...

I'll be heading, today, to my local Gamestop in Riverbank, CA to see if they got any copies in of Castle of Shikigami 3...

Shall report back on the official status of it soon...

Just got back from the Gamestop store location in Riverbank, CA, and CS-3 is officially a "No show"...

I'll have to call around at the other four GS locations and see if they got a copy in...

Really slim pickings here, folks...why-why GS coporate office, make it really hard to pick up CS-3 on day one of release?

Ha ha, suckers. I'm not surprised. I don't support US releases anymore for this kind of treatment, but I thought those of you who still do would have figured by now that the less frustrating way to get the game is just to order it hand have it delivered to your door when it's ready.

I also can try my local Gamecrazy store to see if they got a shipment of CS-3 as well...

I just ordered a copy from amazon late last evening (Wed.) and it got shipped out this morning. I called a few local gamestops and they really didn't know a whole lot and said they didn't do preorders for this title.

While I was on amazon, I preordered Blast Works as well. However, it looks like this will have a much larger release as I was told you can preorder Blast Works at gamestop and found it online at a few more places.

ok, now I'm pissed ... I pre-ordered it on Amazon a couple of months ago and mine still hasn't shipped out ...
Kinda defeats the purpose of pre-ordering if people can just swipe it before you when it's in stock ...

CC Devil, I would contact customer service at amazon to find out what the deal is. This is listed as being "in stock on 5/17" but with a preorder you should have had this sent out first!

Perhaps they will fix the situation for you in some way or send this out faster than you already agreed to. I have had some terrible customer service from buy.com but amazon is usually one of the better ones.

Did anyone else preorder and get it yet ?

stoneroses, thanks for the advice.
I sent them an email a couple of hours ago; we'll see how they react.

I agree Amazon is usually pretty good.
I buy all my games from them and am a 'Prime' member.
Plus, I really hate the whole GameStop shopping experience anyway. I wouldn't shop there even for a rare item like CS3.

The US Wii version is pretty good.

Classic controller support
Bland voice acting which can be turned off
Story mode which can be turned off
Tate and Tate reversed
Rearranged soundtrack or original

The voice acting was actually what I was most worried about. I hate the God-awful English voices, and if there wasn't an option to turn it off or turn it to Japanese, I would have not picked up the game.. but I'm relieved that at least you can turn it off (yes, it IS that important to me).

Also, I'm glad Tate mode was kept in as well.

Went to GS today for an unrelated purchase and figured I'd ask the clerk about Shiki 3 for a few laughs.

It was a foregone conclusion that they didn't have it there, of course—but according to her, the closest store that DID have a copy was 2000 miles away...

Shit sucks for Aksys, I guess.

(FYI, FatalError—they wanted to keep the JP voices, but couldn't afford the licensing. Typical...)

I found the game at a Microcenter today.

According to the book, you can use a Gamecube controller too! I'm thinking I may bust out my old arcade stick to give this one a whirl.

Microcenter, unfortunately, is up in Clawson off of 14 Mile and I-75. Dunno if anywhere closer has it in.

I put a bit of time in, and the game is fun! Wacky voice acting is intact, which I'm happy about.

Found a copy this sunday. It's actually the first time I've ever played any of the series.

Pretty fun, I must say. Not sure what the problem on the supply is. There isnt a 'lot' of copies around here, but theres at least 5-6 stores in the greater OKC metro that has them in stock.

I'm kind of curious how many copies of the game they even produced... Aksys isnt exactly a huge company.

I haven't personally gone to a store to see if they have a copy since I already own the JP XBOX360 version. Although, I did check within 100 miles of my zip on the Gamestop website and it says that none are within my area.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but what do you do on the Stage 2 boss when he shoots that thing out that makes it so you can't shoot? I know you can trigger the max tension thing but is there any other way?

Stores in my area are saying it should arrive by Wed. I don't believe it any longer-- I heard that last week. I'm thinking of ordering on Amazon.
