I just made this score a half hour ago, and I'm feeling both excitement and disappointment. Excitement because this places me in the top 5, but disappointment because it could have been much higher. I was playing almost perfectly until the last half of stage 5, where I made a ton of ridiculously stupid mistakes, primarily because I was very nervous. I can normally play stage 5 very naturally no bomb/no miss, with the only exception being the mid-boss' quick second attack pattern (which I still believe is the most awkward pattern in the entirety of MANIAC) but I was so nervous and excited that I died twice after the mid-boss, and once against the final boss; all stupid twitchy mistakes) Up until then I had not died or bombed a single time in the whole run.
Anyway, without further ado, I present my latest score:
Maniac Mode
Necronopticous 349,831,472 (Lx2) PCB

My best ULTRA game yet! I came very, very close to making it to stage 4. This will be a huge achievement for me. This is my first time making it to the second score extend in ULTRA mode. So fun.

I go back and fourth. I usually play a couple of games of MANIAC, and a couple of games of ULTRA. I only started playing ULTRA as a break between the lengthy MANIAC games, but recently I've been getting more serious about it since I've been able to make it to the first extend, and stage 3 pretty consistently. The idea of one day facing off against the notorious TLB of Mushi myself is really exciting. I doubt I'll ever really focus heavily on score in ULTRA, though. I'm really just worried about making both extends to help me survive as long as possible with each game, which I have already made without much extra effort.

With a couple less deaths I could have broken 400 million on this run. I'm sure my 400 million breach will be coming soon!

Ha ha! I thought I did a good job this morning (best I've done so far anyway), but I'm not going to rank anywhere I don't think.
What the hell, here's the thing:
Original mode - PCB - Stage 1-5, no continues:7821783
Was using Shot A, Bomb B, and Full Auto C.
Don't understand the 'rapid fire' difference (is that PS2 only?) I thought there was only full auto?
Anyway, it's a while before I get on any of these leaderboards, it's probably worth learning how the scoring system actually works.
EDIT:
Just got this:
Maniac - PCB - Stage 1-4 no continues: 185,636,95
Was using Shot A, Bomb B, and Full Auto C
Does that get me on any leaderboards?:D

I'm keeping the boards 20 entries max since there are so many boards to display for this one game with 3 modes and rapid fire / no rapid fire @_@Skykid wrote:EDIT:

Is your maniac score 185M or 18M ? If it's 185M then you get to enter the Maniac top 20.

Inspired by the recent London shmeet, I played Mushi again tonight and picked up another Lx2-remain 1'CC. I was damn near the Lx3, but didn't read the boss' last pattern at all well.
A Lx2-remain 1'CC on your first ever effort is very impressive indeed (to me at least, since that achievement took me months).
