Do the player 1 & player 2 ships in both Psyvariar Medium Unit and Psyvariar Revision games have names?

And how about the player ships featured in Psyvariar 2: The Will to Fabricate?

In the CPS2 Mars Matrix game, the player ships were referred to as Ka-1 and Ka-2 respectively...

The MDS Five Ascetics and the MDS Maitreya are the names of the shooting and buzz-type mechs, respectively.

So, Mosquito-1 and Mosquito-2, then. Good to know they weren't just making stuff up for the North American DC version.

I have the original AC poster and here are the specs it lists:

Mosquito A
Width: 11.2m
Length: 16.4m
Hight: 7.4m
Weight: 27924kg
Engin[sic]: R2 Marlin/2628 MK IV
Max Speed: 5.961s

Mosquito B
Width: 12.2m
Length: 16.2m
Hight: 8.1m
Weight: 214505kg
Engin[sic]: R2 Marlin/2628 MK IV
Max Speed: 6.561s

I like how with the same engine, Mosquito B, weighing over 7 times as much as Mosquito A is still faster (yes, I double checked the numbers. It would make sense that the extra "5" on the weight of B was a typo, which would keep it in the lighter=faster concept).

Here's a little treat I doubt anybody has heard of:

Batsugun Ships:

Type-A: Shy Mirage
Type-B: Dragon's Whisper
Type-C: Judgement Flasher

[Taken from the manga :D

Both Mosquito 1 & 2 ship specs are displayed on the cool attract screen opening if only for a very brief time on both the CPS2 and DC revisions of Mars Matrix... ^_~

Since PC Engine Fan X mentioned it, I checked it on MAME, and the weight shown there is actually 21405 kg

=SALAMANDER (MSX)=

HYPER SPACE FIGHTER [SABEL TIGER] - PILOT: IGGY ROCK
HYPER SPACE FIGHTER [THRASHER] - PILOT: ZOWIE SCOTT

The War Against Salamander: G6709 (6709 Nemesis Year)

I still can't find roll-out dates. I would expect it to be G6709, because these are probably newer prototype ships; you don't see them before, and you don't see them again as far as I know.

fixed Ka2 weight. Please put specs in yellow.

Also updated list with Raiden Fighters and Sonic Wings series. Try to proofread your contributions, it will ease the job. Also, I've decided to put some other data in brackets (pilot names, rollout dates). Still a lot of work to do...

Star Soldier Vanishing Earth

Green ship - F-98 Wisteria
Red ship - F-98 Venidium
Blue ship - F-98 Lathyrus

I think the manual had specs or something but I don't own the game anymore. Weren't there specs on the V-92 Soldier Blade in the game intro...?

EXCELLENT post, moleculoman!

I added hyperlinks to the main list - clicking on each name will redirect to that ship's info page.

Come on guys, there are COUNTLESS other ships out there whose name/serial code deserves to be remembered! :D

I feel very ashamed but I don't remember the other two ships of Project-X on Amiga.
I just remember the Crux II.

Can somebody run an Emu and note the other two down? :D

i recently purchased a pal version of R Types and in the manual it refers to the ship in R-Type as the R9 "Messiah" and the one in R-TypeII as the R9 Custom "Ultra Spike"

i spose messiah is close enough to saviour that it makes no difference though

weird huh

Sorry, didn't see it :s
Thanks :D

Ok I'll add the juicy SCAVENGER then, the spaceship straight from the FMV-ridden raving insanity juicy Novastorm (PC-CD, PS1, 3DO, SEGACD).
Yes I love rail shooters and laser games. So what :D

Altså, from Chō Jikū Yōsai Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie (Super Famicom).
The spaceship is technically one, called "VF-1 Valkyrie", but can endure three different forms, each one with its specific name:

- Fighter form
- Gerwalk form
- Battroid form

Added Macross Valkyries. :D

Also revamped a bit the R-Type chronology of events, but I face a dilemma.

The English version of the story:

http://www.zone.ee/rtype/story.htm

The Japanese version:

http://www.irem.co.jp/official/r/j/history/index.html

From what I can see, there's consensus that the events in Gallop take place in January 2164, while the events of Delta in June of the same year. Except the Japanese version mentions the Seed of Bydo in relation to Gallop, while calling the Delta affair "Satanic Rhapsody". The US version seems to link the events of Delta to the Seed of Bydo and barely mentions Gallop.

Delta and Gallop take place at the same time and show two different sides of the same conflict. Delta's about the strike force of new R-Types that spearhead the millitary offensive against the Bydo themselves, while Gallop's about security forces mopping up the automated vehicles the Bydo corrupted as a sort of fifth column. The whole shebang stems from the "Seed of Bydo" that the victorious R-9A from the original game was unknowingly infested with. You can find out more at the English R-Type official page, though it only covers the original game, II, and Delta.

Bonus page! A group that translates doujin games made an English verson of a little personality quiz Irem put on the Japanese site for Final. Irem snuck in a little dig at another famous shooter in there.

In the listing of ships from Final, you might indicate that the R-11B "Peace Maker" is the ship from Gallop. There are also ships corresponding to Mr. Heli, Image Fight, and X Multiply, though since those games aren't part of the R-Type timeline it might be more accurate to say they're inspired by those fighters instead of supposed to be them.

A couple more fighters...
