Dodonpachi PCB Language Mod
Dodonpachi PCB Language Mod
Hi,
I recently purchased a Japanese DoDonPachi PCB and would like to change the language to English.
I understand the only solution would be to flash and swap two roms on the PCB.
According to Solvalou, these are CPU1 and CPU2.
Has anybody tried doing this before?
I'm not sure where these roms are located. Are they on sockets?
What kind of blank roms / rom flasher did you use?
I apologize if it is frowned upon to discuss this kind of things on these boards. I couldn't find any rules against it.
Thanks in advance![/url]

Eprom Programmer
As a follow-up question: does anybody know where I could buy a cheap 27Cxxxx programmer?
Or would somebody with a programmer consider burning the two international roms for me (for a fee obviously)?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot for recommending this site, Dave_K.
I have sent them an e-mail.
One last question:
My PCB has a white ATLUS logo in the middle of the PCB, a 'AT-C03 D2' marking at the right of the Jamma connector, and a 'DDP0773' sticker on the left of the Jamma connector.
Can anybody confirm this is indeed a Japanese PCB, and not an international release with Japanese Language ROMs?
I got it from CoinopExpress.
Thanks in advance!

To read the ending story if you can 1CC both loops on the DDP PCB -- will be a long time before that elusive & lofty goal is attained... ^_~overkill55 wrote:I don't get why you'd essentially ruin the value of a DDP either just so its in English? What's there to read in the game?

Exactly!
As zakk and PC Engine Fan X! indicated, I'm going to keep the original Japanese language roms in a safe place while I play the game in English with the roms I get from Hobbyroms.
It's a win-win situation: I get to enjoy the game in a language I understand, and I get to retain the value of the PCB if I ever want to sell it back (it's just a matter of swapping back the original roms).
