I already had DDPDOJ, but I'd quite forgotten about Ketsui. Looks like I'll need a 360 stick as well!Zeberdeey wrote:don't forget ketsui and dodonpachi doj! oh an shikigami but i'm not a big fan of shiki.spadgy wrote:Mee too - this and RJF should make it worth the investment...Zeberdeey wrote:omg, i will buy a japanese 360 end of this year![]()

Yeah, It is looking like a JP X360 is the new PS2 when it comes to quality new shooter ports. Time to think about investing, methinks.

I have a bug buzzing in my ear... saying that Otomedius is really likely to have a US/PAL conversionHe was very enthusiastic about this game and talked about how popular it's proving. Perhaps we'll see a release on European shores.
but
I had the same odd feeling...I played it once and didn't get it at all. Seemed like a fan made shareware game.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...
Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

Famitsu has some screens, not sure if graphics have improved, but they've kept 4:3 resolution ratio.

Shiki 3 isn't that great and RFA is full of glitches.. don't get ahead of yourself just yet, there isn't enough to justify the purchase of a foreign 360 right now (unless you absolutely MUST play The Idol Master..).spadgy wrote:Oh! It's DDPDOJBL is it? And Ketsui, Shiki, Otomedius, RFA...MX7 wrote:

Not "RFJ".. RFA.spadgy wrote:OK - cheers Etrian - that makes it a little easier to hold out. I knew about Shiki 3, but had somehow missed the RFJ glitches issue...
I stumbled across a JP 360 lately so I picked it up. I imported RFA, Shiki 3, downloaded Ikaruga and Triggerheart.
Shiki 3's online leaderboards aren't working for some reason. I don't know why, but they have NEVER worked. You can just set everything to easy mode and unlock achievements that way.
Same deal with RFA for achievements. RFA will freeze, completely forcing you to turn off your 360, and has a bunch of sound glitches. Stuff like the enemy explosion sounds and music will conflict with other sounds, and randomly happen. They did announce that they would create a patch, but no sign of that so far (and it's been over a month).
Ikaruga... check super-play.co.uk, for more information on this. They messed up the bonus balls pre-boss Chapter 3, but I still think this is worth buying (over Shiki and RFA).
Triggerheart has glitches, too. I'm worried about the Ketsui and DDPDOJBL ports, which is why I have GaijinPunch getting me a Supergun. I feel somewhat ripped off with Shikigami 3 and RFA, and I'm getting more enjoyment out of playing stuff like Earth Defense Force 2017 and Crackdown.

There's a difference between an inspired parody and an uninspired rip-off. (In this case it's the customers that are being ripped off)Dave_K. wrote:LOL. Its called "Parodius" (well should have been called "Parodius") for a reason people. Its supposed to be tacky and cliche in design.
It's not pseudo 3d, it's bad 3d and twice as bad in a series that have relied on cute, rounded edge visuals. Of course, people will still buy it just because of it's name.Dave_K. wrote:I actually like the clean visuals and pseudo 3d backgrounds. I don't know what you all are complaining about.
It is powerup of laser.

Tacky and cliched probably isn't the right word, it's the utter lack of imagination and invention that makes it look cheap.Dave_K. wrote:LOL. Its called "Parodius" (well should have been called "Parodius") for a reason people. Its supposed to be tacky and cliche in design.

Parodius series used to have tons of delightful details running in the background, and lot of quirky and original characters. I haven't seen too much of that in otomedius.
This feels more like reheated, microwaved TV dinner.
