The upcoming California Extreme '08 - you attending?

I got an e-mail from Mark Birsching about the upcoming 2008 California Extreme show...it's been set for July 19-20th, 2008 at the same Parkside Hall inside the San Jose Convention Center. This will be the 12th annual CAX show to have been hosted since it's inception back in 1997. Is regarded as the world's largest gathering of classic arcade games & pinballs in one location... ^_~

There were some arcade shmup titles shown off including a decicated Twin Eagle cab, a Gyruss cab, a few Neo-Geo MVS cabs running Strikers 1945 Plus, the usual Raiden Fighters 2: Operation Hell Diver at the CAX '07 show . But no Cave arcade shmup PCBs whatsoever. The rare USA region Tenkomori Variety Shooting cab was a no-show at last year's show though.

Last year's show had the first ever arcade game & pinball documentary film festival which had shown both "King of Kong" in it's entirety along with Tilt! - The Battle to Save Pinball documentaries.

Will the possible Shmupalooza contest that Dave K. has mentioned in a past thread be conducted at this year's CAX 2008 show? I would be all for it...it's just the logistics of fellow shmuppers bringing enough cabs to hold a shmup contest showdown with possible cash prizes. The news media will be there...there's nothing like free publicity for such an arcade shmup contest, why not take advantage of it? ^_~

Honestly, an arcade shmup contest has never been held at any CAX event -- might as well make 2008 the year to do it. The CAX staff is open to trying out new venues & events during the entire two day event. ^_~

Yeah, too bad we couldn't do it last year, I'm getting married at the end of July, so I there is no way I can attend this year.

This will be my 10th time attending the upcoming CAX show this year...as always, each CAX show gets bigger and better each year. ^_~
