Greetings
Hello all!
I’ve been browsing the net since 95 and I can’t believe I missed this site! I’m 33 and I’ve been playing games since the days of the Commodore VIC-20 and as you may have guessed my addiction is shmups!
My first ever experience with Shmups was Arcadia on the VIC-20. I spent countless hours trying to clock the game and god knows how many times I rewound the cassette on the tape loader! I made the shift to 16bit computing with the Amiga and absolutely loved shmups. My favourites included, Xenon II, Silkworm, Swiv, Blood Money, Project X, and many other public domain shmups. Moved on to PC and Console Shmups and never tired of the genre.
I then took a break for about 5 years in 2002 but now with the advent of HD, Shmups have lured me back in! These days I own a PS3 and a PSP and having looked at the PSN realised schedule it seems Shmups are going through a renaissance! On the PS3 I’ve been rinsing Super StardustHD and Blast Factor, both of which embrace the fundamental ethos of any successful Shmup.
I love Shmups and I already love this site. I noticed that the archives do not include Shmups released on the next-gen consoles so I’m hoping I can help fill the void! Finally, the Grand Theft Autos, Gran Turismos, and Final Fantasies of this world are perhaps epic in their own right, but nothing beats the simplicity and satisfaction of a 2D, left, right, power-up - shoot-em-up!

Welcome aboard!
Fasten your seatbelts and please enjoy the flight!
And indeed nice to have someone new here who remembers the "old" days.
Since it seems you have enough titles under your belt, why don't let us know your top 25. Old school shmups need all the help they can.
*EDIT - damn I need to learn to spell better*
