Namco System 10 question

Post by mikehaggar »

DOes anybody know how Namco System 10 games work? I can see in pictures there is a big PCB board and small pcb that connect. Is this similar to the CPS-2 which has an A and B board, and ANY A can be mixed with ANY B?

Or do the big and small boards BOTH contain specific game info, and hence can't be separated with use for other games?

Thanks!

I don't think the System 10 (and System 12) were ment to have roms swaps around like a CPS2 system, but it is possible to at least swap the rom daughter boards between Mr Driller G and Star Trigon (just tested this and it works fine). Not sure about other games though.

Its fairly uncommon to find just the rom daughter board and not the motherboard being its so cheap. Both the above games usually sell for 3,000Y each (with motherboards) on YAJ.

What Dave_K said. I've thought about seperating out the 3 System10 ROM's I have from the mothers and only using one, but:
- They are already small boards when mounted to the mothers
- Swapping ROM boards is just extra wear and tear on the interconnect header
