Building Supergun/Need Rundown on Sticks and Buttons

Post by heavymetalme »

I've decided to build a supergun opposed to purchasing one, but I don't know much about buttons. I'm wondering if someone can give me a quick rundown on what's good and what's bad. Company names and specific model numbers would be great as well. Thanks in advance!

Buttons for the stick? You only need to know two names: Seimitsu and Sanwa. I prefer the former, but can live with either.

Here's the inside scoop on the Seimitsu & Sanwa produced joysticks:

Seimitsu joysticks for shmups

Sanwa joysticks for fighting games

Some folks like to play their arcade shmup titles with Sanwa joysticks...whatever floats your boat. I personally prefer Seimitsu joysticks and push buttons myself. You can't go wrong with either brand... ^_~

From what I've seen seimetsu :-32 for the stick, and pretty much any sanwa buttons. I'm sure there's other people here who know more about it than me.

Thanks man, that link is a lifesaver. Will all 30mm seimitsu and sanwa buttons work on a hori fighting stick ss? Should I use concave or convex buttons? I was thinking about putting white buttons on it, it would look great on the black board. Then again, I'm thinking about redoing the whole thing and perhaps giving it a raizing theme. I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Thanks everyone. I found a beautiful coffee table my basement that my folks do want, so what ever thing to do than have a coffee table supergun? Great place to showcase my coffee table books, and hook up PCBs! Perfect!!!

I'll just add that Sanwa buttons tend to be prone to accidental bomb-drops for me, Seimitsu buttons feel like they have more substance to them.
