What does Ra.de and Galuda have in common?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

I have one Cave PCB and its ra.de. I enjoy the power up system in ra.de.

So what can I expect from Galuda? More of the same or a completely different game? From the videos they have added some things but i'm wondering if they have taken something away as well.

Cheers.

Taken from my post in the other thread:
I wrote:ESP Ra. De. Has totally, TOTALLY different gameplay mechanics, except for the bomb. But Galuda's system is way better IMO. Also, it has those Engrish texts between stages and a two-part Stage 5 with lots of annoying shooting girls at part 5.2. The similarities probably end there.
Galuda doesn't have a normal and a more powerful shot (except on Arrange mode) or those small powerup/100-point boxes dropped by enemies in Ra.De. Instead, it gives you green diamonds when you kill an enemy, and you can use these to activate the Kakusei mode to slow down enemy bullets, turn them into points when killing enemies and auto-bomb when you're hit.

Off the top of my head:

STYLE

6 stages, with stage 5 split into two stages
Crazy plot update between every stage
Rock hard final boss in both instalments with big old butterfly wings
Lives represented by hearts inside boxes
You play a flying bloke/bird
Big gold multipliers flying everywhere

GAMEPLAY

Can hold up to 4 bombs at a time, and can deploy multiple bombs at once for massive damage
Shot/special/bomb standard button setup
Extends at 4 and 14 million points
Bullet eating (differently implemented: Ra.De is more like Progear in that bullets within a certain proximity of the enemy are turned into powerups)

Will think of more later, innit

Ra.De. and Galuda, you can get 8-digits.
Galuda 2, you can get 9? :o

Ra.De. scoring is reliant on your secondary attack.
Galuda scoring is reliant on Kakusei-mode timing and bullet count at that precise moment.
[Galuda 2] scoring is reliant on new Zesshikai mode and how well you can dodge bullets COMING BACK AT YOU AS YOU SHOOT. (P.S. rookies can still use Kakusei, fortunately)

Ra.De., setting is sort of Tokyo cyberpunk.
Galuda, think medieval times and renaissance contraptions.

Ra.De. and Galuda, features psychics as primary characters.

Ra.De., no bullet modifications.
Galuda, bullet modifications: slow when in Kakusei, and fast if you screw up Kakusei (i.e. run out of ingots while in Kakusei mode).

Ra.De, multipler is up to 16x
Galuda, multipler is up to 100x.
Galuda 2, multipler is up to (insert weird bonus sound here) 500x.

That's what I got.

They might share some stylistic traits, but they play very differently. Both of them become a lot easier when you master the bullet eating though.

Oh, this reminds me. ESP Galuda's Arrange mode has Chihiro from ESP Ra.De, plus the same weird "coat enemies in goo before blowing them up" shot, on top of kakusei mode and regular shot.

ESP Galuda's a great game, although not really my thing. It's still worth the price though.
