Super XGA VGA Box - Any Good?

Post by Razumen »

So I've been thinking a lot of buying this VGA box to play interlaced games on a CRT monitor: http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-xgabox1

It looks pretty good, with decent inputs (Component, etc) and the price beats what I'd have to pay to find a XRGB# - I'm just wondering if anyone here has heard or had any experience with it? Better safe than sorry as they say.

do not...i repeat.....DO NOT buy that piece of shit....

i bought one from divineo like 3 months ago and it was the biggest waste of money ever....

the one i have already(the one they have at playasia) is way better...

this thing was terrible....huge wavy lines on the screen....reds bled like crazy....it was unusable.....and its resolutions were all fucked.....like on a native 1280X1024 monitor its '1280X1024' didnt even come close to filling the screen....and it looked terrible......

and will not work with superguns....most vga adapters wont

and considering shipping is almost as much as the thing itself....

save your money....DO NOT BUY THAT!!!

Well, that's a dissapointment, but not as big as would have been had I bought it :-p.

Is there anything you could recommend that accepts component inputs?

Yep, the XRGB-2 is the best that money can buy. Do not settle for anything less than that... ^_~

Here's an auction for a XRGB-2+ version currently at $217.50 USD:

You will need a Japanese RGB 21-pin cable (or Euro SCART RGB cable modded to JPN RGB specs) to use with your gaming consoles and Supergun setup...

Do I? Couldn't I just use the included Component->RGB adaptor? Seems a lot easier than to buy 3+ cables.

Yes, with the included Component to RGB adaptor, it'll work just fine. It's with the XRGB-1, XRGB-2 and XRGB-3 upscan convertors, that don't include such an adaptor and the end-user would have to end up sourcing such an RGB cable (or Japanese D-Terminal setup for use with an XRGB-3).

Yeah, I pretty much stayed away from that one - though I guess it is a deal compared to getting one shipped from Japan -> $365 + Shipping...
