Earth Defense Force 2017 is great, single or co-op. Super Pang Collection too.

Earth Defense Force is awesome. Chu Chu Rocket with 4 players is also an absolute blast!

I don't have a GBA anymore, so that's still a no to me.
I have a GBC though.
Maybe a PC freeware game that mimics it? I've never played Chu Chu Rocket, but I understand its basics is simple enough... I remember someone on the MSX-Scene once talking about making a version of it on the MSX.
