Question about world gaming compatibility, NTSC PAL SECAM

Post by HardcoreOtaku »

I'm trying to work out with relation to the variation in television systems around the world how this relates to cross compatibility of Home Video Game Consoles.
With the three main "analogue television systems" which are: NTSC, PAL & SECAM I've noticed there's variations in each one, the variations I've found are:

NTSC, NTSC-US/C, NTSC-J, NTSC-C

PAL, PAL-B/G, PAL-B, PAL-G, PAL-D, PAL-K, PAL-I, PAL-M, PAL-N

SECAM, SECAM-B/G, SECAM-D/K, SECAM-L/B/G, SECAM-B, SECAM-D, SECAM-K, SECAM-L

So does anyone have info on how this relates to cross compatibility issues, I know there are some region lock-outs with the NTSC variations but with PAL and SECAM are their variations compatible?

:D

PAL-M is compatible with NTSC via a transcoder, if I remember correctly.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

not sure, but I think most of those variations relate only to broadcasts (where each channel is in the spectrum, etc.) so it would only be a concern if your games are connected via RF modulator
