This post makes me wonder if:

A) I am under LSD and I have hallucinations about videogames fora and the content posted so far;
B) I should take a stronger stance on my support of eugenics and "sociobiology";

England prevails, anyway.

Forgot:

What's your view on the latest conjectures of string theory, btw?

I'm sure you are leaving more out of this list, but who?

Pure and simple, ego. These people have developed an ego that they need to defend/protect at all times. How better to cultivate this, than with their own protected website/forum.

I don't know Assembler, but GP is to lazy to maintain an ego. :lol:

He's probably at the "there's spiders everywhere!" level of withdrawal if so.

I think the correct answer is "penis". Could be wrong though.

For MX7 & Rando:-

String theory supposes, radically, that the Universe is not made up of infinitesimally small particles as we've pretty much always believed, but rather of equally small (in fact, smaller!) pulsating, coiling, psychedelic little strings. In order to make this assumption mathematically, we must imagine a Universe with significantly more dimensions than our three-dimensional minds can conceive of. In this case, the word "dimension" refers to mathematical dimension: as, in a certain sense, time is considered a "fourth" dimension of the known world. We can't see the seven extra dimensions that string theory postulates, because they are outside of the realm of scientific and human understanding. However, we guess that they're everywhere -- even right here, right now. Insane extrapolations of string theory have professors rationally, calmly, informing the lay public that there do, in fact, exist unknown and infinite amounts of parallel universes within grasp of our own, perhaps mere inches away from our noses, that we will never be able to touch.

Furthermore, we know that gravity, electromagnetism, and the nuclear forces exist -- be they in the form of forces or elementary particles. But Strings? They're literally so small that we will probably never see them as entities.

What String Theory is, it seems, is a field of non-experimental physics -- physics, being, of course an inherently experimental and observational science. Many physicists differentiate themselves disdainfully from String Theorists, who are seen as a radical offshoot group.

err....now back to icycalm

Here here. Assembler is for the most part, laid back. His site has also attracked some grade-A nimrods and it hasn't gone to his head. They're not in the same class as anyone here though.

I have heard some scare stories from people about the way Assembler conducts business - mainly about him using his admin status to try to influence sales his way.

Of course, that's all hearsay and I don't know his take on the matter.

Anybody got a take on that (or even know what I'm talking about)?

I take this back. I was surprised that I'm actually good enough at a couple more games to make the score columns. I promise to make more effort to be proactive in the high score tables!
