Right now, I have the US version of Legend of Oasis. That's it. The rest of my Saturn games are JP shmups. At one point, I had Shining the Holy Ark and Mega Man X3, but I've since sold both of those.

That's all. Too bad I don't have a way to play a Saturn, though games aren't really my top priority right now.

Not a whole lot. My Saturn library is not all that big to begin with and most of the games are shmups. Off the top of my head:

Bubble Bobble / Rainbow Islands
Keio Yuugekitai: Katsugekihen
Loaded (It came with my used Saturn. I never play it and only keep it because no game shop wants to trade it in.)
Puyo Puyo Tsu
Puzzle Bobble 2X
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

Some nice collections there man, this is one of the few sites I've seen so many proud sega saturn owners in one place. 8)
Up to about a year ago I hardly owned any games on Saturn, although some of my friends did.

I've always wanted to try Keio Yuugekitai and Silhouette Mirage, how are they?

captain ahar Edit: Just clicked your sig, that's alot your selling there man. Curious why do you wanna get rid of all those systems?

roushimsx When I first got Asuka120% for cheap, I had my doubts (another all girl fighting game). Actually it turned out to be one of my favourites. I love the combo system the most, you can really volley some sick combos in that game. What did you hate about it?

LoneSage Yeah, I wouldn't mind hearing descriptions of your favourites sometime. How did you find King of Fighters, Waku Waku 7, and Fatal Fury on saturn btw?

OmegaFlareX I liked the original Story of Thor on Megadive/Genesis, I've wondered what Legend of Oasis was like.

Neon Did you prefer Megaman X4 to X3? Also, why is it better on PSX?

neorichieb1971 I finally meet someone with Capcom Generations 5, how is that, good I imagine?

I can't comment on Silhouette Mirage, but Keio Yuugekitai: Katsugekihen is one of the funniest, wackiest platform games ever. Very original and creative. Great game and my second-favourite platformer of all times.

Plus it's a showcase of what could be done in the field of 2D artwork if someone knew how to handle the Saturn hardware properly. It even does some stuff the Saturn is always said to not be able to display (transparencies, yay!). Beautiful. And the music is so entertaining that I frequently pop it into my CD player.

Ah, I forgot Dracula X as well. Don't have my Saturn games in front of me.
Virtua Racing (us)
I second that. Awful port, one of the worst things I've ever played.
Neon Did you prefer Megaman X4 to X3? Also, why is it better on PSX?
It's better on PSX cause the Saturn version doesn't have transparencies. Other than that no major differences. I haven't played it or X3 extensively yet, couldn't make any comparisons.

It seems like Saturn without a ram cart < PSX for 2d in most cases...odd.

Re: What Sega Saturn "non-shmup" games do you own?

Post by llabnip »

I have over 150 japanese Saturn games... and about 40 scrolling shooting games for the Saturn (I'm 1 away from my personal complete collection... leaving only the true dregs which I'm not interested in - I'd rather spend that money on the last remaining PSX shooters and a few more PCE shooters).

I won't list them all, but some non-shooters that I enjoy (and, quite honestly, I love all the games in my collection):

Albert Odyssey
Area 51
Astal
Baku Baku Animal
Bug!
Capcom Generation 1-5
Nights/Christmas Nights
Cleopatra Fortune
Clockwork Knight 1+2
Colums Arcade Collection
Daytona USA and CCE
DecAthlete (awesome 2P) and Winter Heat (great 4P!)
Die Hard Arcade (aka Dynamite Deka)
Digital Pinball Necronomicon
Dungeons and Dragons collection
Gals Panic SS (QIX for the modern era!)
Guardian Heroes
Hanagumi Taisen Columns
House of the Dead
Keio Yugekitai
Konami MSX Collection
Last Gladiators: Digital Pinball
Magic Knight Rayearth
Magical Drop III
MSH
Marvel vs. Street Fighter
Metal Slug
Panzer Dragoon I + II
Prikura Daisakusen
Puyo Puyo TSU and SUN
Rayman
Real Bout Special
Road Blaster/Thunder Storm
Sakura Wars 1+2
Samurai Showdown 4
Saturn Bomberman (10 player action!)
Sega Rally Championship
Sihlouette Mirage
Sonic Jam
Sonic R
Street Fighter Collection
Street Fighter Zero 1,2,3
Super Puzzle Fighter 2X
Super Real Mahjong PVII
Tempest 2000
Ten Pin Alley
King of Fighters '97
Time Gal / Ninja Hayate
Tokimeki Memorial Puzzle Dama
Vampire Hunter/Savior
Virtua Cop 1+2
Virtua Fighter 2
Villiams Arcade's Greatest Hits
XMvSF
Fire ProWrestling - 6 Man Scramble
Manx TT
llabnip - DaveB
Once more the light shines brightly in sector 2814.

I've only played the PS1 version of Silhouette, which has had the challenge nastily tweaked...unless you're willing to spend boss-caliber time fighting regular enemies, that version might be frustrating (though you can pick it up a lot cheaper than the Saturn version). Supposedly the Sat. port is easier, but some think so to the point of it being no challenge at all...I haven't compared them firsthand, so I can't say.

As for Keio, it's a good platformer, though also pretty easy...if you can find it cheap then you might as well grab it, as the animation and the music are especially nice.

Guardian Heroes - Simply awesome, get it now!

Exhumed - Very good Egyptian themed fps. Can be found quite cheap.

Deep Fear - Fairly decent Resident Evil clone. Usually very expensive though. Glad i got mine cheap when it came out.

For Sreets of Rage style, get Die hard Arcade.
