They're totally different, you can't compare them properly. It's like comparing milk to concrete.

Am I the only one who thinks that Galuda 1/2 OSTs are cheaply sounding uninspired trance crap?

they both sound great on good speakers/headphones and 2 blows 1 out of the water

but comparing touhou music to cave music is like comparing hitting my dick with a hammer to getting a massage

I listened to either on good headphones, and it's the same uninspired trance crap. I mean, it's not even good trance, imo.

I love Raiden 2 and Viper Phase OSTs. Raizing is kind of a mixed bag for me, though. GMahou and Garegga are cool, but APB and Bakraid...

EDIT: I thought this was trance?

Ehehe. That's just great. Discuss... from my standpoint, yeah. ZUN has Cave beat at the moment.

But can he beat Sega?!

Cave...not amazing, but what's music matter when there's more important things to worry about, like bullets?

Touhou...it's all just something oriental-sounding, typical for stuff based on shriners and spirits.

Raiden I...THAT, you can't go wrong with. Especially the boss theme.

Wow... I must be in the minority here. I really like the touhou music. Horai Shoots a Strange Bird is one of my favorites.

I'm in full agreement with you there. Let's face it, 95% of trance sucks ass anyway, and this stuff is even worse than the average. It's tolerable as game music, but there's no way in hell I would want to listen to it on my stereo.

i love the boss music from mushi futari...i get juiced just watching superplays when that song comes on....its perfect for the intensity of the game

i also like the music in deathsmiles....suiting....boss music is dope

and touhou music is ok but i find it gets annoying if you play for a while....it doesnt seem as much part of the game....its overpowering, and very repetitive....i find cave music tends to compliment the games quite well.....

blue wish resurrection plus has an awesome soundtrack too...not my favorite kind of music but its perfect for the game

Powdered, liquid or solid?

That goes for any of them, actually.

Now that's not fair.

Some of the most inspired and honest music I've ever heard came from video games. Granted, shmups aren't exactly the best genre to back that up, but let's be reasonable, here. There's a lot more worthwhile video game music than there is worthwhile radio fodder.

A seriouspost would be appreciated.

Futari's Sea of Frozen Crystals and Mushi's Like the Night of the Falling Stars are incredible tracks. Galuda's Huge Battleship Elinies is also fantastic. I don't know how people can't be influenced by these tracks.

My local classic rock station and the University's NPR station with concert music beg to differ (ignoring the Bob & Tom show, anyway).

No, I HATE them too. It just sounds like lunk-headed dance music.

For the most part I prefer Touhou music. Cave music can be very boring. DoDonpachi has arguably the worst soundtrack ever.

Pink Sweets on the other hand is not only the best Cave soundtrack ever, but also perhaps the best videogame soundtrack ever.

Drugs are bad, mmkay?

Edit: I listened to Pink Sweets for a few minutes, could not even stand how annoying it was. And any time vocals came in .. oh god make it stop

Whats the point?
I can share his statement, since its a very nice soundtrack.
But i'm always careful with "best ost ever" since its all a matter of taste, and not of drugs
